Look, if you're here only for the fights, then I'm not sure what to say, it doesn't seem to be an action-oriented season. I'm actually enjoying this so far as it's more laid-back and more character driven than its predecessor. Obviously, not everyone likes the changes nor like the characters, but I personally like them. Little things like seeing Ash's reaction to Rowlet joining his team, or his unwillingness to catch Litten after seeing his situation, or just seeing Pikachu playing around with the other Pokemon, running around, chasing each other. Yeah, it sounds cliched as hell, but it's super comfy, and I like that.

I don't think it's the lack of battles. Lots of people here say they want more exciting news when the next episodes are battles so it's just that the way is presented is so boring.

I don't dislike SoL or comfy. I loved Hyouka which lots of people call boring but SM is just overly safe and simplistic.

Yeah, Rowlet joining the team was nice but I think Charmander,Treecko and Froakie captures were much more interesting and emotional.

My problem is not that is comfy or slow but that DOES NOTHING WITH IT. Some threads ago I talked about how underutilized the school was and people agreed. It's fine to be more SoL but do something with it instead of being safe and bland.

No one has any real goals this season so far. Serena took 40ish episodes to get a real goal, but she got one eventually, albeit, a pretty boring one. All the goals we've seen outside of Ash and Lillie aren't realistic, even when compared to the Pokemon Master goal.

I'm not really sure what to say as the school is but one of the many 'landmarks' in Alola. I get that the school hasn't been used that much, but in the end, it's not a highschool romcom, but Pokemon. The school simply provides a static location for Ash and his classmates to return to, it's not the main focal point of SM.

I mean, it's not like they haven't done something with it, Lana did get to teach a lesson to the other classmates, and they are bound to be fillers episodes, so they could very well do some school activity during it.

It is, at minimum, 3 years of SM. Even using a small percentage of the total # of episodes is a significant amount of episodes devoted to the school. Of course, that is just speculation, so they could very well not utilize the school setting as much. It would be wasted potential, but I would get over it, as with the way things are going, even if it's not focusing on the school, I would still be enjoying it regardless. In the end, SM isn't just about the school, but Alola itself.
