There is a method to skip days but its not worth it and required the debug patch to be applied on the rom. Its not worth it since the date will screw up anyways.

If you warp to the are of the start of the game you can take the cart and change the time to 11:59 and let the time roll out a couple minutes after midnight and repeat then do it one last time and set your time.

Time still screws up in some emulators so its not worth doing this.

After gym 5 you must have already gotten rock smash. You get it as a reward after capturing the power range dude, and with the badge you now can use it to access a cave. The entrance is just a little further ater the area where you caught the power ranger.

What final moveset do you guys recommend for Gengar?

Shadow Ball is no brainer.
Destiny Bond seem decent.
Gas move for stab. I'm having trouble deciding Laughing Gas, Mustard Gas or Lewisite. Each of them has some good secondary effect which make this a tough choice. Laughing Gas has only 50 BP but gives -1 attack/sp.attack on every hit to opponent. Mustard Gas is physical but 90 BP and have chance of getting burn (just like Scald) and Lewisite is 90 BP special attack which has chance of getting -1 defence on opponent. At first glance Lewisite is the best but Laughing and Mustard have better secondary effects.
Last move should be filler for coverage like Thunderbolt/Sludge Bomb or Energy Ball.

What do you guys recommend?

If switching out of Destiny Bond has been trouble for you, then Mean Look should be good. Otherwise, if you don't have any Poison move on your team, take Sludge Bomb to deal with Fairy types (especially Sound/Fairy), then Thunderbolt or Energy Ball depending on whether you think Sound or Gas types are a bigger threat to you.

Lewisite is the obvious gas move choice. Gengar has garbage physical attack, so Mustard Gas ends up weaker than Laughing Gas. LG secondary is better, but it's not as good as the secondary of Lewisite which is "kill your opponent almost twice as fast".

Secondary of Lewisite is -1 to defence not sp.defence. And Lewisite is special so it's not helping Gengar that much, more like it helps its team mates.

Gengar doesn't benefit from Lewisite since it decreases def, not spdef, so you won't actually deal more damage after landing it since gengar is a special attacker. Laughing Gas has a very nice effect but a move like that works better on a more defensive pokemon, Gengar is there to deal lots of damage. I'd go with Mustard Gas, burning isn't that amazing for a sweeper type pokemon either but at least the extra damage can help and the attack itself is strong.

For coverage you can honestly go with anything, plenty of non-sound pokemon use sound moves anyway so it's not like thunderbolt really needs priority. I'd drop Sludge Bomb though since poison is just not a good type to have, especially since Gengar doesn't get STAB for it anymore due to the poison>gas type change. I'd say pick either Thunderbolt or Energy Ball, both are decent, neither is really better. Pick the one that'll give you some coverage against a more common weakness of your team I'd say.

The important secondary of Lewisite is that it deals 40 more base damage than Laughing Gas, which gives it almost double Laughing Gas's damage, which means you'll need about half as many uses of it to take something out. If you value the secondary of Laughing Gas that much on Gengar to choose it over Lewisite, then the real answer is that you are using the wrong mon for the job you're trying to accomplish and should be switching to something else or reformatting your team.

Brown is great for the time it was released, but don't expect it to have the modern features like prism does.

I'm really bored. I can't motivate myself to play past the cave after the first gym. I also got overzealous with my money in the beginning and sort of spent it all and have none left for repels/escape ropes so having to run in and out of this cave and relight all the things is annoying.

Please tell me it picks up and this game actually gets good eventually. I fucking hate caves but I'm guessing there's tons in this game

Here's a loose guide from a guy on the discord.

the white jewel is where the chest is, with green palette
the red jewel is accessed by a pit on the top left corner of the 3rd floor.(or 2nd youll be able to figure that part out)
the blue jewel is accessed Opposite of red jewel's hole in the top right corner of floor 3(or 2nd)
the brown jewel is the path above the stairs that lead to the floor before the chest area, theres 3 balls there 2 are misdreavus level 40

No, some of the caves are better for some stones but only or fire and ice, otherwise any spot is good.
Best way to level up mining is to mine.
There is one dawn stone in the Naljo catacombs, near the end. But I think that is the only one that can be found like that.
