Rural/semi-rural players have to power up their top mons to stay competitive in gyms, when you got just 1 Snorlax and 1 Lapras and 1 Dragonite you're gonna make sure they're always maxed out because you're never going to catch/hatch more anyway (currently Lv25, luckied out on some eggs back then at Lv10 or something when 10ks were still common, haven't seen one of those in the wild since).

I turned off Pokemon spawn notifications off with the Go Plus, so it only buzzes with Pokestops and I manage to collect about 4 times more the usual amount of items BUT still managed to catch around 200 or so of mostly Shitmons.

I used to burn myself out on MMOs all the time and I've finally managed to break out of that bad habit.

I don't tryhard and devote my life 24/7 to MMOs anymore but I still just keep my phone open even if I barely do anything outside of hitting the daily bonuses and going back to ignoring it because I can still walk around and hatch an egg every few hours. After a few days of not caring as much, you could come back and be like "Hey, I got so-and-so amount of star dust from just casually hatching eggs", power up something you didn't feel like powering before, and then go back to playing normally.

The guy's problem is that he can't deal with the lv 10 gym domination, that's fine. Then he should just go for his walks without dealing with gyms and just hatch an egg or two a day instead.

so, i still have all 12 incenses i have gotten by leveling up. any advice on using these?

Stop walking in loops. Long distances in the same direction. The game checks in every few minutes, and only gives you credit for straight-line distance between those two points. (I think it pings every 60 seconds and updates distance every 4 minutes, but I could be wrong. Does anyone remember what it actually does?)

But that's the reason you're losing distance. If you walk around a racetrack, for instance, you could get zero distance if your timing was unlucky enough that the game only checked in at the start/finish line.

it's arguably the best defending move, since it's hard to dodge and pretty much replaces ever other bite. dragon pulse and especially hyper beam are piss easy to dodge, so twister will deal the most damage/cost the attacker more potions. the less potions a player has, the less likely he is to take away your gym, so be glad you got twister

When it comes to PoGo and really all F2P games, spending money is a question of progression.

Buying coins means more XP (lucky eggs), more spawns (incense, lures) or more egg hatching (incubators). More XP means leveling up faster which means higher level Pokemon spawns and a higher CP cap. More spawns means more XP, more candy for evolving (and thus more XP) and more stardust for powering up your Pokemon. Same thing for egg hatching. These are all very fast means of progression.

On the other hand, PoGo+ offers progression at a very slow rate. The time spent spinning a Stop or catching Pokemon does add up over time and PoGo+ trims a lot of time off those activities. But that's literally it. That's all it buys you. So people would rather spend that money on in-game currency which offers far more progression. Or not spend that money at all.
