London Internats have a 40 quid entry fee (but if you did very well at '16 you could get a paid flight, stay and entry), and I can't imagine it getting more expensive in the foreseeable future. I wouldn't describe Wolfe's playstyle as stall though. It's more just playing carefully/controlling the game. I noticed in both games he dominated he got off to an early lead, then slowed down and challenged his opponent to find a win rather than forcing the issue. Xurkitree outspeeds a lot of the meta with it (basically all non-scarf pokemon) plus being able to run Protect allows you to get around a lot of its counters with its partner. UK competitive gaming scene on a whole is in a really sad state, it's basically dying out.

I don't just mean Pokemon but just gaming in general, quite a few of the more known pro gamer teams in various other videogames have basically disbanded or shut down recently. The new generation of videogame players are all super casuals now so it is really hard to find proper sparring partners IRL.

I've been theorymoning Silvally and I would run a bulky set with the Steel Memory to resist mostly everything or with an Expert Belt and BoltBeam, Snarl/Parting Shot and Protect.

Well hidden power is a move and this tournament was scheduled about two weeks after the game was released, so everyone who was planning to end more than 0-3 genned their pokemon, including a guy who put his porygon (a gift-only pokemon) in a beast ball and a dozen perfect shinies.
