What's the most efficient energy to damage output now? I remember way back then that some Pokemon had attacks that required three energy and did 50 Damage and I thought that was impressive. What about nowadays?

Regardless, the power creep in this game is fairly well contained. The numbers on the Pokemon get bigger, but the trainers, which are the bulk of any competitive deck, have remained fairly consistent for a while now. Compared to base set trainers, they are much, much weaker. Even the Pokemon are pretty consistent. The latest regionals was won by Yveltal EX, which was released as apart of the XY expansion at the start of 2014.

You know the set is trash when the card template revamp is the best thing you can say about it (and it looks garbage with English yellow borders anyway).

The GXs are all bad. I mean look at Tauros, it's Plasma Blast Kyurem-EX with a better Outrage as a once per game attack. Muk is worse than Garb and won't see any use at all as long as Silent Lab exists, Vikavolt is too slow for comp decks, Tsareena has potential but is too clunky, Oranguru is ineffective in Garbodor's junkyard, Gigalith is gimmicky with Carbink Break, Shiinotic is alright but no grass deck really wants him, and Ribombee is a very fragile stage 1 for a very small heal. The best cards, once again, are reprints and new niche trainers like Nest Ball and Poison Barb.

Why are the posters in this thread so stupid? Without tool removal Garb will be king, so these simple decks will have an inherent advantage over anything more complex than them. The Volcanion example is very relevant, as it's a deck almost entirely comprised of cards from one set and flows much better than anything in SuMo.

Espeon is only ever going to be relevant if we get another night march, Oranguru is irrelevant if we get any decent card draw within that 3 years. Vikavolt and Shiinotic can easily end up as useful as Mega Sceptile and Palkia with wasted potential.

Primarina, Incineroar, Tauros, and Gumshoos being in the format for 3 years is precisely why they'll be bad. They're power creeped out by this very set already by Solgaleo having an actually good GX attack that isn't just
