Just watched the episodes. I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I remember everyone shitting on the SM anime pre-release but it did turn out decent. The art style actually looks good in motion, the characters are endearing, the pokemon are adorable, and the battles look dynamic, on par with XY.

It really isn't for the simple fact that XY had lot less fillers compared to actually plot episodes and that it wasn't literally only formula like 9/10 DP filler was to the point there they made a filler that joked about the same stuff happening every filler (the one when Ash and the rest doesn't give a crap about TR showing up). All series had terrible fillers but XY has fewer fillers and a bigger proportion of them weren't stuck to a formula.

I have a problem when trying to rate OS. The Kanto series is great, as good as DP and XY (although for different reasons), while Johto really drags it and is only better than BW.

OS would be easier to rate if it were separated into those two regions instead of one series.

Japan took it from granted, but the English-speaking audience wasn't all that aware of it at the time.
