Stardust is cancer, they should re-balance it, it would make certain mons more viable
No one ever wants to use unconventional Pokemon because it costs as much Stardust to level up a Dragonite as it does to level up a damn Pidgey.
I'd like to use shit like Pidgeots and whatnot, but it's not worth it and need to save up my stardust for Eeveelutions and Eggos because it's so expensive anyway

It is a waste of time and resources to build up a gym when anyone can come and knock it down by himself.

I never understood all these people claiming that palm trees are bad and bugs are good against palm trees, they are OK at best. If you are good at dodging a single jolteon can defeat two gyarados twice its CP, A vaporeon can wreck two arcanines but a bug, any bug, takes down only one palm tree, that if you don't mess up and get hit by a charge attack or you dodge but the game kills you anyway and them bring you back bugged. Bugs have the HP of a fly and take a lot of damage of palm trees attacks even when they dodge.

My vape squad is accidentally stuck in gyms, haven't seen them in literal months.
I have one Jolteon.
I have 5 goddamn Flareons because the RNG hates me.
And then the rest are all sub-2k CP situational mons.

If I can do better than a 1:1 ratio of wins, I call it a good day because I play mainly solo.

The real secret to gym battling success is to have friends or spoof with multiple accounts so that you guys can halve the time it takes to take down any defender and actually sweep the gym when you normally wouldn't expect to.

One Flareon can take out one Exeggcutor and call it a day.
Two Flareons can take out like 4 Exeggcutors and half a Snorlax.
Dunno about bugs, really. I have a bunch of Bug Bite / Bug Buzz Pokemon ready for powering up but I never have the star dust to spare for them instead of another space filler because I need to be ready to fill a gym on short notice.

A lot of us, and probably most of the remaining players, are miserable because we all play alone. This is why Mystic domination sucks for a lot of people. In my town, it's not just one faggot, it's a whole army of them and they are basically available 18-24 hours a day to spoof over and take my gyms and instantly fill them up while I wait for my teammates to physically make their way to the gym. THAT'S why it sucks to fight back because when you're outnumbered, there's just no chance, and the advantage from not having to leave your bed to do it just sucks the fun out for everyone else. Doesn't really help that you are alone in the game world. Zero interaction with other humans other than watching sparks fly on your gym and the prestige going down.

Your trainer used to be able to occasionally show up on the Pokestop screen and it was a nice reminder that you exist in this barren world but Niantic patched it to explicitly hide every trainer and Pokemon the moment you open a Pokestop so even that little comfort is gone now.

He's a decent defender too, just shove them in some gyms you take over

Victreebel, venusaur and vileplume are pretty good attackers.
Dragonite is a good CP sponge you can place on gyms despite being a shit defender.
Charizard is okay for burning all the treeman.
Blastoise is kinda shit too since there are waay too many good water pokemon and his CP cap is meh.
Nidoking and nidoqueen are meh at best too due to how they get fucked by anything psychic.
Alakazam and gengar are shit.
Golem is okay for prestige when you are not facing a water mon.
Machamp is kinda ok against fatso and lapras but not really that good

I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's just too braindead to understand that the gym isn't training itself up, but he's done it twice now
he walks around with one or two of his friends trying to keep a hold on all of the gyms around uni

minor issue: enemy team sniping the gym back after its beaten (easy to just take the gym down again in little time and little resources)
major issue: same team members sniping the spot after you train it up (huge problem, especially when its the 7th spot or higher because its 8k+ to train the next spot if you suck up your pride and train it again which risks it getting stolen again, and biggest issue when its the 10th spot and theres exactly nothing you can do about it)

It's in the middle of a building site and there's no way to get close to the gym to battle it (trust me, I've tried), and the only thing I ever see in it are low level mons from what I presume are spoofers
