How do we fix this shit?
>>
>>25105322
Make better Ice-types. Like a Weavile with Tough Claws/Refrigerate/Technician. Or a Special Weavile. Or a Mamoswine with an offensive ability. Or a Black Kyurem with a Physical movepool. Y'know, shit that got banned from Smogon's Almost Any Ability meta.
None of this slow, bulky bullshit. It doesn't fucking work. No more mixed shit either, we have the Physical/Special split.

Bumping up Freeze Dry to 90 BP and giving it to all Ice-types wouldn't hurt, nor would some Ground and Flying resists. But the main thing is better Pokemon, most Ice-types are shit by stats alone. Give Garchomp's spread to Aurorus, see what happens.
>>
>>25105406
This right here. Since the Ice-type has one resistance and 3 very common weaknesses it should be a powerhouse offensively. Make it the counterpart to the Steel-type.
>>
>>25105322
All contact moves targeting Ice types have a 5% chance of freezing the foe.
>>
>>25105444
>Make it the counterpart to the Steel-type
so it should hit 10 things super effectively and then have 3 resistances, one of which would be fairy or something as good as fairy?
:^)
>>
>>25105322
retcon freeze. It now never thaws once more.

Freeze only ever happens when an ice type uses an ice move on a pokemon twice in a row, or when a non ice pokemon uses an ice move on a pokemon four times in a row.
>>
Kill it with fire
>>
>>25105488
Well I was thinking stat wise. Steel-types have high defensive stats so Ice-types would have high offensive stats. Increase the base power of a few Ice-type moves. Icicle Crash should have 95 base power and be 100% accurate.
>>
>>25105322
With a super new type where ice is immune
>>
>>25105494
>retcon freeze. It now never thaws once more

I'd agree to this, but only if non-Ice-type Pokemon using Ice-type moves can't cause the freeze status.
>>
>>25105406
Almost forgot. Give Ice-types +1 priority in Hail.

Why are Ice types super effective against Dragon types?
>>
>>25105494
Retcon freeze. Freeze now makes the afflicted pokemon mono-ice type. Simultaneously losing both of their stabs, all their resistances, and gaining crippling weaknesses including rocks.

If you can't make ice good, take advantage of its shittiness to ruin the enemy team with.
>>
>>25105322
Ice is no longer super effective against Dragon type. It's pure nonsense for Ice to be SE against Dragon type (Dragons don't give a shit about ice, they breath fire), and only Dragon and Fairy should be SE against Dragon type.

There, Ice type fixed.
>>
ground, water, and flying resistances with either the fighting or rock weakness removed
>>
>>25105670
Most of, Goodra's a weird case, Western dragons are reptiles/reptilian Eastern ones are usually humanoids so there's that and reptiles thrive in HEAT. They're cold blooded, and their temperature scales with environment heat. Freeze them, and their metabolism shuts down.
>>
>>25105564
Reptiles cannot into cold
>>
>>25105627
>freeze is still the hardest status to give to other people
>freeze still sucks
>ice types are still worthless
>>
>>25105670
>ice is now neutral to dragons
>all dragons are now uber
>metagame becomes balanced
>ice types are good by proxy
10/10 idea
>>
>>25105564
Lizards
>>
>>25105727
>freeze is the hardest status to inflict because its the strongest
>this change would justify the addition of a dedicated freezing move in the same vein as WoW or Twave since it's no longer sleep: the good version
>distribute said move almost exclusively to ice types
>>
>>25105322
Make it super effective against fire because melted ice = water and water > fire
>>
Water types are instantly frozen when hit by any ice attack
Ice types become water types in sun
>>
>>25105322
>inb4 some dumbass wants it to resist Grass
>>
Well, what if we took away the Fighting weakness they seem to have for no reason?

Maybe make Ice resistant to Fairy, since Fairy seems to be a kind of "forest sprite/fairy tale" kind of class and winter tends to factor heavily into those legends.
>>
>>25105322
Make more ice Pokémon.
Ice/Groudon.(type)
Ice/Fire (type)
Ice/Rock(type)
Ice/steel (type)
>>
>>25105820
> Fighting weakness they seem to have for no reason

Do you absolutely know nothing about martial arts or martial arts in pop culture? Martial artist break ice blocks with their fist to show their skill and strength https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKYs5ep1dQ0
The also break bricks and steel plates which is why the Fighting type is SE against Rock and Steel-types.
>>
>>25105820
You can break Ice with your fist, that's why it's a weakness.

The best way to go about it is to make better type combinations for Ice. Either that or give it some better offensive capabilities. It should be super effective against Normal, Bug, and Dark for instance, but Ghost should also resist it if we're going with typical legends of things. Fairies would be average or outright resist Ice if we're going that route too.
>>
Ice should be super effective against water and steel (^:
>>
>>25105322
Remove Steel and Rock weaknesses and we're talking.
>>
>>25105322
Make it immune to water
>>
Ground or Water resistance. Flying resistance for sure.
>>
>Ice now resists water
>There is an ability for some pure ice types that allows increase in all stats and a minor replenishment in health when hit with a water type attack
>>
>>25105322
Give it one resistance that isn't worthless, like Water, and it'll be a lot better. Also give Freeze Dry to a lot more mons, it's an incredibly useful move.
>>
>>25108605
And holy shit Gamefreak stop making these defensive Ice types they're all awful. The best ones are all offensively based (Weavile, Cloyster, Mamoswine)
>>
Give Ice a resistance to flying and possibly water.
>>
>>25110735
>>25108604
Running water melts ice faster
If anything it should be weak to water
Logic >>> your precious "balance"
>>
>>25110752
How about Water = Ice to begin with, and the fact these pokemon are insanely cold to be able to even use ice attacks. Water attacks would just freeze on them.
>>
>>25108615
Avalugg is probably the closest we've got to a viably defensive Ice mon, and even then, it can only take 1 or 2 supereffective hits.
>>
>>25110776
It could work as a new ability.
>Sub-Zero
>Nullifies any Water-type attacks
Sort of like a powered-down Desolate Land.

The problem is, Game Freak needs to introduce a way to give new abilities to old mons. Like a new kind of TM, or some kind of breeding item.
>>
More abilities that benefit from hail similar to sand rush/sand force
>>
>pc
>deposit
>>
>>25105820
Idiots always complain about this
>>
Make it resist water, ground and flying
Here you fixed
>>
>>25112416
Forgot make hail boost defences
And a sand rush like ability for ice types
>>
>>25112416
>water, ground and flying resist
goes from bottom tier type to top tier fairy move the fuck over there's a new king tier type overnight.
>>
>>25105322
Make it super effective against rock. I mean frost weathering is a thing.

Make rock hit it for neutral damage.

Ice resists water and vice versa, only Freeze dry and scald should hit each type for super effective damage.

Ice also resists ground.
>>
>>25112539
>Make it super effective against rock

>>25112600
that's nice and all but have you considered rock having 6 weaknesses might not be a great idea?
>>
>>25112608
I don't agree with the fighting weakness but I can see where they get it from.

There's a difference between breaking bricks and breaking rocks and steel for that matter.

Fighting could hit rock for neutral and steel can should it. Although I think rock should also resist it but I'm trying to find a balance.
>>
>>25112673
*and steel should resist it imo.
>>
Ice types tend to be found toward the end of the game, in some cavern or cave specifically set aside for their purpose, and Ice type in general are pretty rare.

Following that, they should honestly, if nothing else, just go through and give every existing Ice type pokémon +50 to its stats. (Excepting things like Regice, who is a legendary, and Glailie, who has base 80 in every stat, so it should probably get just get +10 in each.)

I dunno, Dragon type tend to have higher BSTs than average -- I feel like Ice needs some of that.
>>
>>25112600
That requires water first. How about making ice super effective if they've already been hit by a water move.
>>
>>25105756
Some of the best ideas in this thread
>>
>>25108583
This. Mamoswine thanks you
>>
>>25105322

A viable Rapid Spinner

A Special Wall

A move that can freeze for X number of turns

A half-way decent Mega

Something that can tank hits and return damage
>>
Permafrost: Immune to fire type attacks
>>
We don't ice is the delicate lady of the types
>>
>>25112800
Why is it SE against ground
>>
>more ice types that are fast or decently fast rather than slow "bulky" mons
>ability that doubles speed in hail for some slower ice mons like Glaceon and Beartic and some others
>x1.5 either def or spdef in hail
>all/most ice types can learn freeze dry instead of just a handful

its fixed
>>
>>25113487
Because science... permafrost and shit.
>>
>>25112800
>anything to do with ice
>requires water
Are you shitting me
>>
Make it SE effective against water and resistent to flying
>>
Literally need to add some resistances, that's all. Making it resist Dragon would already make it far more viable. Add a resistance to Steel and make it neutral damage against it and it's much more viable.

Also stop making Ice/Water pokemon.
>>
>>25113777
>nerfing dragon and steel again
>not nerfing water or flying
>>
>>25113788
Because flying needs to be nerfed.
>>
>>25113797
Brave bird.
>>
>>25113797
The next gen adds defensive buffs and provides greater access to coverage moves. Ice resists grass and ground (not flying), grass resists fairy, rock resists ice, and dragon resists flying.

Give it flying and dragon resistance. The offensive moves are fine but the Pokemon themselves are weak punching bags.
>>
>>25113821>>25113821

BB should operate like high jump kick, where if the attack misses it sees crash damage. (Er one carries protect as bird spam coverage)
