>Game Freak introduces a major change to Pokemon battles for gen 7
>Pokemon (can) have 5 moves
>Pokemon (can) hold 2 items
Which would you prefer?
In 12 it was muh poacher
In 13 it was muh advanced midfielder
In 14 muh wingbacks
In 15 muh inside forward
Yet to play 16. Doubting if the upgrades deserve 49.99
>a good idea
Ubers would kill itself.
Double Eviolite Chansey.
Almost any mega with a band/scarf/specs.
Knock Off at double power than it is now.
Choice Item/Lum Berry
Please god make it stop
You would need a ton of (potentially arbritary and stupid) rules on what items could or could not be held to prevent most of this idiocy.
At the very least, items shouldn't stack so you don't end up with stuff like the previously mentioned double eviolite chansey. Thing would be fucking indestructable.
>double eviolite chansey
>max defense is 119
>Single Eviolite is 178.5 max defense.
>Second Eviolite puts it at either 238 if they don't stack with each other or at ~268 if they do
>Max SpD is 339
>with one eviolite it's 508.5 maximum
>with two it's either 678 or 762.75
>turn pokemon into ATB
>speed influences how fast shit fills up
>priority attacks use up less ATB, attacks like hyper beam use up more but are now
>lower attack damage to make bulky mons less shit
>fast pokemon out DPS powerful ones, powerful ones out hit bulky ones, but bulky ones beat fast ones in the end
Would this kill the franchise or improve it?
A clutch move is a fifth move a pokemon can use once in a battle, only when its health is yellow or lower. a clutch move can be one of x amount of moves that pokemon can learn normally, though not all of its moves can be clutch moves. certain moves like Last resort and self destruct cannot be selected as Clutch moves
>Pokemon (can) hold 2 items
Instead how about 1 item + 1 berry?
>Every pokemon now carries (item)+ Sitrus Berry
>Ice and Rock/Ground mons can now have two SE-reduction berries at a time, increasing their longevity
Could you equip two of the same berries and they wouldn't activate at the same time? So you could give Regice two Chople Berries which allows you to reduce a SE Fighting type attack twice?
I believe he is referring to berries becoming their own thing.
Shuckle's been my "ace" for years so I've often thought of it when these types of hypothetical questions come up
>Shuckle can now carry Sandstorm, Toxic, Infestation, Wrap and Sand-tomb/Rest
This would be a huge boost to it
That being said, 2 items;
>Can have Leftovers +
>Leftovers (assuming duplicate items are allowed)
I'm not sure what would better suit it
What if for gen 7, its Mega-Evolution style gimmick was being able to power up any of your pokemon so that they can either have 5 moves or hold two items?
A bit like weapon honing in MH4U
If I had to choose between the two, 2 held items. I feel like there are so many Pokemon that either don't have enough good moves to fit 5 slots, or are basically a 5th moveslot away from being able to answer 95% of the game. 2 hold items could be just as stupid, but it would also make weaker Pokemon viable without dragging others down into unusability.
I'd also make Thief and Covet do double damage if the foe have an item, as well.
Also, if the last part of what >>25105123 said happened, then if would be a mutually assured destruction type deal by allowing everyone a big viability boost.
Honestly, since Megas, the whole metas been a mess, and I don't care about Smogon-rules either, so I'd be fine with Gen 7 allowing either 5 moves or 2 items. It would be fun experimenting on what our favourites would now be capable of.
Some people were so frightened of every pokemon eventually getting a Mega, but I think "poke'-honing" would be a great alternative to having a huge influx of Megas
I also play MH4U, my huntan nigga
>Avoids crap Megas like Audino and Steelix
>No need to design too many new Megas
>No need for people to get angry if they don't like the Mega, either competitively or design-wise
>Allows more mix-and-match rather than "this Mega is the only boost they'll get. Its done. This is it"
>The choice of having one Mega per team got harder in ORAS, but now you can have a Mega and honed-favourites
>Being able to hone any non-Mega pokemon means Its easier for the developers to pick who gets a Mega; "We can't design a Mega Flygon, and Skuntank just isn't popular enough...but at least their fans can now make them stronger"
I'm all for it. Pieces of shit like Ariados and Ledian will likely never get Megas, so a catch-all customisable boost to every pokemon takes a load off Gamefreak's minds and means everyones' bros get something new.
>mega with an items
>mega fug with 2 life orbs
Did you really think that idea fully through?
Of course 5 move slot. Everything having an extra slot to run Protect is better than this shit.
Mega Fug is already completely broken, lets not take it into consideration.
Also can we all agree that Megas don't get an item? I know that fucks over Megas like Steelix and Audino but it also stops Megas like Blaziken and Scizor getting TOO good, whereas now they're just good.
Then again, M-Steelix and M-Audino could be imporved with an extra moveslot
How about if one item slot is a regular hold item while the other is a consumable slot?
So you could have the usual leftovers/sashes/choice items/etc and the other is exclusively for berries and the handful of other one time use stuff like gems.
Okay, so how about;
>one must be a consumable
e.g. Leftovers + Focus Sash
>the 5th move depends on whether the majority of the 4 moves is attacking or status
e.g. 3 attacking moves, 1 status, the 5th is status. 4 status moves, the 5th is attacking.
>Harvest Tropius with Heat Rock + Sitrus Berry
How would you propose this "poke-honing" dealio? I know in MH4U it requires very rare materials for each weapon, plus a hefty price.
Make it a reward for maxing Pokemon amie and friendship level and maybe also you have to go to some place for a ceremony or something. Would actually make it worth doing that shit that isn't just for return or to evolve sylveon.
You could choose between things like letting the Pokemon hold two items (one regular and one consumable), getting an extra move slot (have to have at least one damaging and nondamaging move though), getting a physical buff that grants +10 to atk and def and +5 to spd, a special buff that grants +10 to sp.atk and sp.def and +5 to spd, or an "aura" that drops one of that Pokemon weaknesses to neutral (only if that Pokemon has more than one weakness though)
>Pokemon can have 5 moves. 5th slot is unavailable during battle if pokemon carries item. Losing item during battle doesn't unlock last slot.
>Pokemon can have 5 moves. Ability becomes "passive move". You must remove ability in order to learn 5th "active move". There is an NPC who can reteach ability. Also new passive HMs and TMs are introduced, but they are mediocre.
And while we're at it, let's make HMs into fucking Key Items.
They got it sorta right with the Eon Flute. Keep it, and add more.
I'm sick of having 2 pokemon dedicated to HMs.
