Looking to buy platinum or soulsilver. Which one should I get?

Platinum is more challenging, while Soul Silver is significantly longer.

OP here, I played Diamond when it came out and Gold around 5 years ago. I'm wondering if changes in Plat are worth it over revamped gen II.

If you've played Diamond and Gold, then SoulSilver will be the bigger difference, and arguably it is the better game. Platinum is also very good, and makes lots of great changes to Diamond, if you're looking for something after SoulSilver.
