I can literally only pick 5 pokemon I like from this gen. Can't even make a full team it's so shite.

For me, the appeal of Pokemon is travelling through new areas, discovering new Pokemon and building a team out of them. Gen 5 is probably the best gen for this.

Unfortunately, people whined about not being able to see Pikachu in the wild for the 80th time, so it'll never be done again.

Most of /vp/ agrees that Gen 5 is the best gen. The only people who disagree are a small group of Gen 2 fans.

BW is the first gen that captures the feeling of being brand new since the originals. Having no older Pokemon catchable until after the Elite 4 was one of the best things GameFreak has ever done. BW also executes a story very well. B2W2 put a spin on the "1.5 version" formula and tells a cool tale. Both games have great post-game challenges, especially B2W2.

The only spot where Gen 5 dropped the ball is legendaries. The genies, Meloetta, and Keldeo are pretty lame, but the cover legendaries are some of the best design and lore-wise.

Outside of losing the otter appearance, it really isn't that off. It's pre evolutions are the sole reasons why it even has a samurai theme and carries literal shell blades and armor (as their Scallop shells provided them offensive and defensive benefits)

I didn't like BW when they first came out, it took me until BW2 were announced to final get the energy to beat my copy. But I ended up loving BW2, they're probably my favorite games in the series.

I love Gen 5 so much. I replay BW and Hg/SS once a year.

BW is great, take time to listen to the music and how it varies depending on if you're running or walking, or other factors. Listen to the ambient sounds.

Take time to really look at the suoer nice graphics, and the way the routes look.

The only ones I don't like is Klinklang. It's a bit boring, looks awkward imagining it fighting, and isn't different enough from Klang. But I do like the gimmick of it getting more complex as it evolves.

Gen 5's problem has never been that it has NO good designs. Just that most of the designs are shit. Gen 6 is much better because it's quality over quantity. Gen 5 has done irreperable damage to the brand by flooding it with shitmons like Pidove's line or Garbodor or Hydreigon or Keldeo or Samurott. The fact that it has some greatmons like Scolipede or Krookodile can't whooly make up for it.
