Flowey never goes Zalgo in his speech, he just makes wacky faces.
People post Pokémon on tumblr, but /vp/ is still here.
I went here to read people getting triggered by the Undertale references.
I hope you don't disappoint me.
The former sounded to me like a super generic Anamanaguchi knock-off, Megalovania is also overrated though I think
I played the demo some time back and bought the game a week ago. My save file is by the table cheese, and I don't feel like continuing for some reason. Does pacifist run get better?
Man, people were fucking salty. I thought Undertale was a good game, not best game ever material but decent, and I eventually just started voting for Undertale to see how mad the faggots on GameFaqs would get.
Some guy compared the fandom to Fascism, people were talking about paying for votes just so Undertale didn't win... All for a fucking contest that literally means nothing and is completely pointless. GameFaqs isn't, like, PCGamer/GameInformer. It's not a big-time publication, it's just a (in the general public's eyes) small website about video games.
Yet some try-hards were treating it like life and death.
Personally, I think they should've prevented any game from being put in the vote if said game came out in the last 6 or so months.
Yeah, (Not him by the way) I think it could've been made more clear regarding the fight with fish lady and the final boss. Especially since people associate "fight" with "kill", and it's sort of a forced association in the game.
You can't even fucking compare them. I'm not saying that one isn't better than the other subjectively, but how exactly is a game like Undertale inherently "better" than the first gen of Pokemon? Or Fallout 3 worse than Undertale? There's no criteria for judging.
I think the whole "you can't run while you're green!" at the start was a pretty suitable hint. I figured out Asgore pretty quick, but my friend is one of the ones that tried to slowly whittle down Toriel's health and then got that scripted crit, and he never touched the Fight command ever again.
>I think the whole "you can't run while you're green!" at the start was a pretty suitable hint.
It might be similar to the "Pokemon trainer battle" mindset: If you've just been sparing things, and you will if you actually get invested, you won't think about running and you may even think it's impossible since it's a boss fight.
I dunno. My friend who was watching had to help me, too.
> but my friend is one of the ones that tried to slowly whittle down Toriel's health and then got that scripted crit, and he never touched the Fight command ever again.
Yeah, that's just it: You get conditioned not to use the Fight button, even though it becomes a necessity. I don't think there's ANY dialogue that indicates that you need to sometimes "Fight for Mercy".
No dialogue, but Asgore
smashing the Mercy button into pieces, Talk not doing anything after you weaken his ATK, and nothing changing when you do try to Spare are pretty big hints since there are no other options in the game.
I didn't kill Toriel first run through, I just thought "Well I'm not gonna fight no matter what, because I'm stubborn like that". I guess it worked.
I did miss Undyne though because I didn't realize I was supposed to go back to her house.
I killed her (the way most players do) then immediately reloaded. Flowy's dialogue man... (I've done neutral, golden, and "hard mode", doing another golden run now.)
But these have nothing to do with pokemon! Bratty and Catty replaced with Sandile and Meowth?
Christ. I can sense the asshurt just by looking at it.
I assume he means true pacifist, don't kill anyone, be friends wherever you can, etc.
Everyone knows the genocide run is the best, though.
If you want to get REAL grindy, do all the following on top of a True Pacifist run:
>purchase "tem pay 4 colleg" and the temy armor
>buy a Spider Donut or Spider Cider from the bake sale in Hotland
>get the Silver Key from Sans
>find the door that belongs to the Mystery Key
>open the Mystery Door in Snowdin
And to be honest I'd rather hang out with Papyrus than date him.
that's "only" 1000
it gets cheaper as you die
>silver key from sans
i fucking missed that on my playthrough
>open mystery door in snowdin
do you have the strat for avoiding all the backers?
You also forgot about one thing: Get everyone to be yellow in TP credits.
>whole game without saving
Flowey is like 'but you are a fool who never saved' if you do no save runand even goatbrosection reacts to that.
I'll admit that I found undertale enjoyable and definitely very creative. The Genocide Route was nothing more than a middle finger to the player and probably a way of Tony Fox saying that his game was superior to other RPGs, but I can ignore that as it's not forced upon the player.
Best game of the year stretches it and I know that without the massive hype train it rides it would probably not come close.
Best game of all time is unacceptable and more evidence that the general quality of a video game is more decided by the fluctuating emotions of teenagers and trendsetters shilling their shit rather than level headed mature thinkers who can sit back and process all the angles.
But really, music and video games and recent films are usually aimed at teens and edgelords to begin with. I'm fine with that but goddamn, the redditors and tumblrites and whatever other cancerous social media really do get obnoxious.
We're not on /v/ but it really is interesting to think how this sort of problem applies to pokemon as well.
Now I'm imagining all three/four cousins as Rotom.
>Napstablook as a regular Rotom
>the Dummy in the Ruins as Heat Rotom
>Mad Dummy as "Mad Washer" (Wash Rotom)
>Mettaton's sexy rectangle form as Frost Rotom
But what would Mettaton EX and Mettaton Neo be, in this case?
>The Genocide Route was nothing more than a middle finger to the player and probably a way of Tony Fox saying that his game was superior to other RPGs, but I can ignore that as it's not forced upon the player.
How do you mean?
>Best game of the year stretches it and I know that without the massive hype train it rides it would probably not come close.
Yeah, pretty much. But it got its own Kickstarter and people have followed it for a while. I think the game exudes a certain charm similar to (I really am sorry here for saying this since everyone says it) Earthbound. I never played Earthbound. I'm sure there are other people who aren't. Undertale is a good entryway into that, especially for the teen crowd you talk about who may not have experienced it.
>Best game of all time is unacceptable and more evidence that the general quality of a video game
There really ISN'T a best game of all time, though, and realistically there won't be. It's the same for music, movies, or any artistic form. I liked Undertale, but I do agree, it's not even close; I'm not sure what game is.
>by the fluctuating emotions of teenagers and trendsetters shilling their shit rather than level headed mature thinkers who can sit back and process all the angles.
Undertale is "a game that makes you feel good", as I read one person describe it. The neutral and True Pacifist endings can really invoke some pleasant feelings you don't get in other games. It's not the only one to do it, but it's cheap, it's written relatively-well, and it's popular.
>We're not on /v/ but it really is interesting to think how this sort of problem applies to pokemon as well.
And any fandom. I hate how people say "X fandom is cancer", because there's faggots in every group who spoil it. It's not just Pokemon. Or UnderTumblr. Or Ffff-naf. Or Roodiepie. The cancer exists everywhere, in a small portion of the group, but on the Internet it seems much worse. Go figure.
I mean that Tony undoubtedly wanted to say 'grinding is bad' and 'my game doesn't have grinding unlike FF/DQ/insert RPG, so it's good'. The main villain of Genocide is the concept of the 'increasing numbers', or at least that's what I took from it.
I understand the Earthbound vibe. However, there have been games released this year (i will not mention them to not get OT) that have done considerably better at being charming or at least succeeding in their aspect. But what the hell do I know.
I agree that there's no best game of all time. The issue with polls always is that it lies with the crowds, and the crowds are easily swayed, especially since gaming is made up of such a young community.
And I reiterate that Undertale is a pretty well made game.
from what I heard it was because Naruto is a parallel for Jiraiya and Sakura for Tsunade and that JIraiya and Tsunade love each other
also Naruto's pop told Naruto that his mom was like Sakura.
sounds like Naruto sidestepped a landmine though since Jiraiya is dead and marrying someone like your mom is gross as fuck.
Tears come and tears go, that's how this world works.
What I am happy about is that with this Undertale fever, other games are getting some time in the limelight too, like LISA.
>that have done considerably better at being charming or at least succeeding in their aspect. But what the hell do I know.
I think that's a very subjective thing to state, since what it takes for a game to be charming or succeeding in certain areas is a subjective criteria.
> The issue with polls always is that it lies with the crowds, and the crowds are easily swayed, especially since gaming is made up of such a young community.
Oh, yeah. But that's a given. Video games are meant for recreation, and younger people have more time than older people.
I personally don't care one way or the other. I like what games I like. I only gave Undertale a try so I could better understand who Mettaton was since I have a friend whose "husbando" is him. It is a grill, but she isn't in London.
Here's your reply.
Who's mad here? Rocket League seems like a pretty solid game, and it's got a competitive following too. It's soccer with cars. I've only seem gameplay of it but it seems fun.
total delusion, naruto had a crush on sakura but it was clear he just wanted her to break him off some
hinata was in Love with naruto from real early on and naruto was always oblivious but very kind to hinata
the romantic subplots are dull and tertiary at best anyways and anyone who gets upset over cartoon marriages needs to reevaluate their life
For some reasons, I think Sans should have quagsire in his team; both Sans and quagsire are some giant smiling sluggish goofballs.
>The Genocide Route was nothing more than a middle finger to the player and probably a way of Tony Fox saying that his game was superior to other RPGs
I think you're reading too much into that. After all, Earthbound served as a huge influence for him, and he was an active member of the Mother fanbase for a long time. In fact, a song from the Genocide route, Megalovania, was originally composed for an Earthbound fanhack he created.
Most things are. I just don't feel like having a greater discussion on it. Maybe on /v/, though there are probably less passionate people here.
>younger people generally have more time than older people
Meh. I'm probably considered too old for this bullshit (and this whole website) but so just enjoy coming here and playing games despite a busy schedule. Its not even that I equate being old with being experienced and this old people should manage these sorts of things, I just wish more people had better insight.
>grills husbando is mettaton
Maybe I am. It's just that when Chara, who I suppose is the embodiment of evil in the Undertale universe, also claims to be the embodiment of 'the satisfaction you get when a number goes up', I just can't help feel that that was an unnecessary point to make and a shot at people who like the grindiness in RPGs.
