And here is the concept that was voted in.

Outside of the costume he is a charismatic guy who rose through his own hard work. He's well liked by most and takes on a mentor-esque position for young trainers. He seeks out problems before they get bigger. He was investigating ET and originally donned the Pokéman persona because he feared reprisal and didn’t have enough evidence to prove their guilt. Acting a bit sillier to hide his true identity (and as he confesses himself “the costume just brings it out of you”). In costume he acts like a Power Ranger/Sentai. Speaking about justice, friendship, etc

If you battle him as champ in costume or not is still to be decided. We were thinking possibly having you fight him one way the first time then the subsequent times you battle E4 he would be the opposite.

Nah, the group had a big argument about route 9 about how we'd want to go about making barriers. We didn't want it to be mountainous/hilly so cliffs were out of the question, there were complaints that the palm trees were too skinny and we couldnt use them as barriers, I said they weren't meant to be barriers.

It took us a good three months to overhaul them and during that period we took opinions and suggestions from every member still involved in the project and ran supermajority surveys to confirm them. Well the problem that came up with a lot of the writers for Pokeman was that him repappearing in costume in the postgame caused a minor continuity error with the plot they had in mind for him. I don't think one costume Easter egg will be enough to convince them it's worth overlooking, but with enough of them the content might outweigh the criticism.

Completely agree. There is too much buildup in this song, with not enough payoff. The pokeman reprise is the only thing that is reminiscent of a champion theme, since it's the only high energy part of the song.

The song should've been composed around the pokeman theme, using it as a chorus, and while the intro to the song is nice, it should've been only a few seconds max, just enough to cover the animations of the trainer sprite appearing and the first pokemon being sent out.

THIS. A lot of games in general overlook stuff like this, but it's a detail that really adds a lot to the player experience. Check how long this usually takes, make the intro that long so the actual battle theme gets going the moment the player gains control. I can really appreciate when a game shows this level of detail, and it can make a good boss fight a great one.
To use non-pokemon examples, the final boss of Okami is a stellar example, as are a lot of the climactic boss fights in Undertale.
