Trip was...okay I guess. I liked the whole "I want to prove Alder I will train to be the strongest" thing, the fact that he had a camera and seemed to enjoy his journey but the whole rivalry with Ash was pointless. I also think they tried too hard making a Gary 2.0.

Bianca was meh. I wish we would see more of her. They got one thing right and that was the episode with her father (although I was sad Ash took Elesa's place). I kind of liked her character but she was truly a bitch in the Club Battle Tournament arc. I also wish Ash and Bianca could have a proper battle.

Stephan was the best of all of them. He had a genuinely friendship and rivalry with Ash. However, that got ruined by the next guy. I liked the Clubsplosion arc because he did need some focus.

Cameron was absolutely terrible and I despise him. Ash (for some reason) liked him better then Stephan and I don't know why. I guess it was because they needed someone to bond with before the league like Morrison, but Morrison was likable and awesome. It was really forced from the beginning and I wished Stephan would've been Ash's league buddy. I can get behind the idea of Ash landing in the Top 8 again since, y know, Ash's Unova Pokémon he brought against Cameron were absolutely terrible but the fact he had to face Cameron and lost to him, man, that really irritated me.

Why the fuck was Virgil even introduced? He is so bland and I can't believe they let him win the league. Don't get me wrong, I liked the idea of an Eeveelution team and the Eevee rescue squad thing but...VIRGIL IS SO FUCKING BLAND. God I wish they gave him some personality. He is even worse then Alain from the Mega Evolution specials and that says a lot.

Overal, they were...okay. I wish Georgia and Burgundy would've entered the league as well but, y know, they're Iris' and Cilan's respective rivals so....

Korrina has a bubbly personality but is also brash naive. She gets emotional, but is brave and steps up when she needs to. She's a more well rounded character than most girls, which tend to lack serious flaws. Unlike Iris though, she attempts to deal with them instead of just being a cunt.

People tend to say she's not worthy of being a gym leader, but she's clearly quite young, and younger gym leaders aren't always the best trainers. See: clemont, brock, misty.

Memes have a nasty habit of appearing and disappearing overnight.

In this case, hate for Korrina surfaced at the height of the Mega Lucario Arc as anons were getting tired of the arc getting dragged with our beloved main characters getting sidelined, Lucario shoehorning and repetitive in losing it's control, and the fact that anons were bored waiting for subs/new episodes to air and these threads being a 24 hour thing gives ample time for anything to fester.

The jokes that Korrina was a gold digging famewhore out to steal Ash's Pokemon bonding techniques took a life of its own as anons begin making or giving attributes to Korrina as a shit granddaughter for talking back to his grandfather, accusations of nepotism in her gym leader role, legitimately being retarded not being able to see that something was wrong with Lucario as well as her continually allowing it to "go off" on its own in battle. Moreover, this also includes her being a blood thirsty psycho because she allows Lucario to do its own thing, as well as a dogfucker after her ludicrous claims that Lucario was her soulmate.

Her fanbase (or reverse trolls) didn't help much either. Basically, she became a scapegoat for the dragged out art, since she's the most prominent element there.

Yeah, I might have understood Pokeshipping's subplot in Orange Islands because Ash's story was expected to end (not keep on going like it is now), so pairing him up with main female made sense. And Contest made sense because May was going to be written off at end of AG, so pairing her up with Drew was logical.

Ash's story was planned to end at the end of Johto, but they decided to keep him as the protagonist. Pokeshipping was teased in Kanto as well, but picked up as a subplot in OI because of that original reason. That's why in Johto it basically died down with only a few hints here and there. Misty was going to be written off (but they didn't know just how long she was going to be written off), so they left an ambigious ending of Misty saying "I know how you feel Ash [about me]".

If anything, with Serena doing Pokemon-Amie and promoting PokePuffs like they have been with her, they can use her to promote it since it's the only way to get a Sylveon and maybe some future Pokemon to evolve, so she still stays somewhat relevant. Plus the whole "not having a goal and searching for one" fits pretty well with her having a reason to continue with Ash, going around and seeing the world to see what goal would work for her.
