Call it Full Moon.
Increase the power of fairy moves ( similar to fire with sunny day)
Make some new abilities that benefit from it being a Full Moon
Make a "Moon Beam" dark type solar beam.
Usually take a turn to charge but under full moon fires instantly.

I was just trying to think of a type relationship similar to fire and grass.
Also a lot of Moon themed moves are fairy type already. Maybe think of a bit for a few types dark, bug, psychic, and ghost?

Truth be told, level scaling isn't that hard to implement, and neither would moving away from the same three starter type trope. The rest would take some effort, but no more effort than nonstop cinematic cutscenes or really insanely detailed stories shoehorned into the game. Just let us make our own stories/adventures Like in gen 1-2 but provide the tools for us to do it.

Transformers GEEWUNNERS vs. Pokémon Genwunners, which are worse? I'd say that GEEWUNNERS are worse; while both groups overrate their shitty original installments in the exact same way, at least Pokémon RBY actually tried to be a legitimate fully-functioning standalone video game, whereas Transformers G1 simply existed to sell toys and didn't really try to be a sustainable standalone product, to the point that its creators freely and often admit to just making crap so they could get paid.
On the flip side, Genwunners complain about new Pokémon games that are also legitimately solid and playable products (if not masterpieces), whereas GEEWUNNERS complain about live-action movies that are just as shitty as the original cartoon, but in a different way.

Whether you agree with Smogon or not, would you prefer that Gamefreak add any more optional rules to Battlespot?
would you like Gamefreak to have seperate lobbies for sleep clause, evasion clause, OHKO clause, etc. Or a lobby for Alola only pokemon so that every gen can have its own metagame like VGC?
Can you also conceive some way for gamefreak to vaguely rank pokemon by tier? Or is that completely out of the question of reality

Nidoking - 252 SPA/SPEED, Life Orb, Timid, has Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Earth Power, Sludge Wave, Thunderbolt, Stealth Rock, and maybe Sub as useful moves.
Alakhazam - Same spread, but with focus sash and whatever offensive moves you want as a revenge killer.
Machamp - idk, guts user with flame orb, adamant nature, 252 ATT and the rest is whatever. Speed for out-speeding a few things, HP to deal with what he can't. Runs some decent moves I think, like knock off, maybe bullet punch (to help with HP invested Machamps), Dynamicpunch, Stone Edge, Facade, Close Combat, etc.
