Why is farming for long fragments so time consuming

Finally managed to cap hungry joe. Holy shit that was a rough experience. No black blood, but I did get a crook and a gem. Anyone have tips for dealing with this asshole? I used the brachy GS and it worked alright, but he just has so much health.

Nope. Not one little bit. Unless you see the actual skill in your list of activated skills, it means nothing.

That's why if you have like -10 Defense on something, all it takes is one gem to take it to -9 Defense and you're golden.

Just defeated my second Kirin with a good load of 80 pellet shots and a Sakura Parasol.

It seems Ionprey Gunner armor is pretty much the only saving grace for the Prey armors. Which is nice, since i actualy like their armor design.

What's everyone else favorit armor by design rather than effectivity?

SnS has lower damage per hit, but can somewhat compensate for it with its mobility. None of the attacks take more than half a second to chain into a dodge, so using mobility to your advantage makes the fight a lot more involved.

Also at some point, you want to handicap yourself for the masochism and the challenge :^)

Miralis: Huge bag of HP. Sometimes underwater. If he dies there, you don't get 9 carves, and it can be hard if he dies on land. Sometimes blocks the camera, making it hard to read tells. Aimed fireballs that have a tell as big as the blast radius.
Alatreon: My only actual problem is difficult breaks and unrivaled hatred for gunners.

Can't ever go wrong with Speed Sharpening if you're unsure of what to gem in. 5 slots with each gem giving +2 points means you'll fit it in perfectly.

I feel like the Switch Axe would be more interesting if it only had one phial type that boosted both raw and element/status, while reload was removed and the phial constantly drained for as long as you were in sword mode, but phial charged faster compared to how slow it is now.

Also you could add shit like "Full-phial bonuses" to Axe Mode, like maybe using some phial to do a bonus, holding charge on overhead chops or some shit but only if the phial is full.

Focus would both make it charge faster and drain less in sword mode.

Here's what you do. Buy an Iron [weapon] from the dealer and just work your way up from the Great Jaggi, fighting every monster along the way, and upgrading that Iron [weapon] as you go.

True true, just compared to the other guides which offer armor skills and generally a good weapon of said element or amount of slots, the DB guide is a little lacking and leaves a little to be desired. Recommended armor skills at least would be nice. For the weapons though, might want to mention some are better then others, cause the chainsaw swords while cool, are kinda of shit they're entire upgrade path and they gotta compete with lagia and Zinorge DB's, same with the dual element weapons, might want to mention them and how effective they can be

Oh man. After putting a ton of hours into mhfu, I was super pumped for Tri. It was the only reason I ever bought a Wii. Switch-axe ended up better than I hoped, underwater combat ended up worse than I hoped. They removed some of my favorite monsters (Rajang, etc.), and the Elder Dragons, so that was disappointing. The giant monster fights felt improved. Lao Shan Lung, while cool, was pretty boring. 10/10 theme though, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKyzN3jNw8w

Mainly used the hammer and lance in FU, so the Tri changes felt fantastic. Was really weird getting used to the hammers new mid-charge though.

Overall, the game a successful upgrade.

Hallow Jhen is great for the end game but I preffer evasion in my armor, but that's because I have an awesome polishing charm.

I was just checking it. Btw Ludroth armor is a great start for DB users and HR Lud is pretty great up until G Rank at which point you may want to get a G Lud which is readily available from the start and use it until you get something better.
Volvidon/Lagombi are worth mentioning due to evasion as well as Wroggi armor due to razor sharp.

If you pick up a decent Evasion charm Evasion+1 is super easy to get on H.Jhen armor. I have a 2-slot Evasion+5 charm, so I run S+1, Speed Sharpening, Razor Sharp, and Evasion+1. Plus the Heallth+20 that the armor has, but that doesn't actually matter.

Nah. Considering Alatreon was only in 4 as a trade material and not an actual monster. Plus Alatreon is strong and unique enough to where a subspecies would be a moot point. Also keep in mind that most Elder Dragons don't get subs to begin with. Only ones so far that have subspecies are Lao Shan Lung (forgot to include it in my first post), Kirin, Ceadeus, and Jhen Mohran. I don't count Rusted Kushy because it's literally just a Kushala that needs to shed its skin. Other than that it's the same.
