Loved the latest destiny episode. My only complaint is that it was too short, but surprisingly, it didn't feel rushed at all.

I don't know. On a competitive level, I'd like to see more top players giving it a shot. Say what you will about Chris G, he plays the damn game. I know all they play is SFV but if Tokido and Xian could throw us all a bone here and enter KOF just once at one of the billion tournaments they go to, it'd be nice.

Casually? I have no idea. This game is never going to be that popular casually. KoF's too fucking difficult for casuals. The amount of time they'd have to invest before not getting the floor mopped with their face, let alone beat decent people is too much.

If we want more casuals, we have to hope to god SNK makes XV beautiful. Bring in as many as possible with some pretty fucking graphics, and a decent story, and hope that a few of them find it within them to learn the game and stick around.

Man, we've been over this. At this point it's a beating a dead horse kind of thing it's been discussed so many times. The best KoF could hope for in the US is STABILITY. It will NEVER be popular like SF in the USA. As with any game the bulk sales are casual sales. New people need to get into it and stay ENGAGED, the old aging fanbase can not maintain it forever. This was shown by the survey that was going around a while back. What is most important is getting enough new people interested so that it has a stable enough support base & have them be ENGAGED.

One little thing that could help is organizing games even among each other here, but nope. It's been tried in this very thread, & in the most recent only 8 people seemed interested the last time, it happened across 2 threads. then it's back to the waiting game

One thing I've noticed, at least from the steam db page or whatever it is is that peak times is when the chinks' evening time or when they are getting off off work/school, in other words like 5-8 pacific. Time like around 2 or 3 hours ago are the really lows for the game. I don't even own it for steam, but I check on it from time to time. Also it seems that the guys who did the port for SNK have abandoned the technical support section. Don't know why, maybe it's due to them taking on another project or maybe some sort of contract they had expired? These things I've mentioned are nothing definitive, but it's something I've noticed.

Dunno about anyone here. I remember gatoray posting a screenshot of the rankings on the PC version. They were all chinks except one polish guy. If one is able to play with them I'd imagine it'd be like playing someone from japan or half a world away. No matter how good the netcode it's bound to have hiccups, how bad they are would depend on one's set up or connection. Sometimes I wonder if they're segregated in either version because of the whole china and internet thing. It makes me question of those peaks really are from chinks or Asia in general since a good number of countries are in that timezone or one slightly different..

I think he was just immature at the beginning, I mean, he was a student with pyrotechnics powers and the weight of being the next leader of his family/protect the world from evil guys and entities in his sholders. At least in 94 they underplayed Kyo's role a bit - he had some focus in the opening, but in the tutorial and the default player 1 and 2 select screen slots the focus on one Terry and Ryo - it's pretty rare for crossovers to not focus on their own original characters, just look at Super Robot Wars, Kingdom Hearts or Project X Zone.

Smash Bros might be a bit of an exception, but that's rarely a story-focused series, but the final boss is still always an original character.

To be fair, like half of the usual competitors have their own agendas and don't actually give a fuck about the tournament. Also, the only two regular teams that don't do much of anything are the AoF and Fatal Fury teams. The Ikari team has their hands full keeping track of all the bullshit behind the scenes and don't actually compete to win (though I'm pretty sure they did in '03).

It's bullshit that the Psycho soldiers team got robbed of their leading role after all the teasing during the NESTS saga, though. But they at least got that.

Also, Terry got back into the spotlight in XIV and it was teased that he will get a leading role in the next game. Either way, I think your description of Kyo as a "pretty boy lazy teen hero with destiny powers " is oversimplified and biased, his laziness really only extends to his studies, which is also implied it's something he deeply regrets.

Most clubs draw the line at 4 days, with even the most lenient of active clubs drawing the line at 1 week. I don't think anyone is gonna accuse you of being a dick for kicking someone out after a whole month of inactivity, even if they did come back. It's nice of you if you don't, but you may as well be collecting dust at that point.

Just kick them and make room for people that willl actually be active enough to see and appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Maybe the difference between DPS and Gank is something like sustained consistent damage versus burst damage from supers?...

It doesn't really mean much other than roughly how their stats are spread. They are weaker than DPS, but tankier than them in theory. "Gank" is a poorly translated term, "Support" is more appropriate but even then, there's nothing that Gank characters do that fighters in the other two groups don't.

A "pure" dps fighter would be K', he doesn't do much of anything other than blow things up. A "pure" tank would be Ryo who doesn't do much other than take hits and debuff the enemy's attack. A Gank fighter is guaranteed to either, heal or debuff and that's about it. They aren't particularly impressive and their theoretical health/defense advantage over DPS fighters vanishes after unlocking the second talent tree, which makes DPS fighters do more damage against Gank fighters. So in the end, they do less damage and die more easily than DPS fighters.

Glad he has the older man look with the bushy mustache as opposed to the prettier design you sometimes saw very sparingly in certain pieces of art. He looks a little too young in KOF2002UM's art, and his 98 art look awful going by the face, hair, and mustache alone. It's funny how he actually looked fine in the actual game though by comparison. Shinkuro drew shit really weird back in 98, and got way better by 2001 when CvS came out.

That extra hair is only supposed to be there for Omega Rugal anyway, who they just started making a sprite swap of normal rugal in 98 onwards. Generally you don't that in his normal sprites except during Dead End Screamer really. Where as there's a bunch of moves he does in 2002 where he honestly looks like his hair grows during the animations. But then there's all his in-game "art" and idle sprites and his hair looks shoulder length like it did in 94-95.

Are you talking about the game or the animation? The animation was made because SNK's parent company wanted to expand SNK's IPs beyond just video games. They eventually want to them to be multi media works. Back when the animation was announced another movie was announced too, but no word on that has come out yet. It's pretty old news. As for the game it's a beat 'em up, it seems to be somewhat based on the animation. Leaked beta testing footage even showed a few characters some slightly redesigned, and a segment included Terry as a kid. The footage was taken down not too long after it surfaced.
