This is only part of the equation and you still need basic warrior decision-making sense, but it's what I personally like to do. You still want to have another warrior on your team doing the solo tanking.

First and foremost, do not front as if you are a tank. Slowly walking at the enemy team as a melee hero with no dashes or hard CC will just end with you taking a ton of free damage. Much of your survivability can simply come from just constantly staying on your feet and moving around.

One of the great liberties given to Leoric which very few warriors have is that he actually has very little obligation to stay in melee range. Many other warriors have this problem where once they are in, they stay in, and they constantly have to be inside the enemy team to get anything done. Leoric does not suffer from this. Because your main source of damage and sustain is your W, once you have that on somebody you can simply walk around and kite them without actually spending too much time in melee range. The healing it gives should cancel out meager poke. Against melee heroes this means you're getting a lot of free damage off, and it also means that the enemy backline will have to move up further than usual to deal damage to you (important). I like to take Hopelessness at 1 and Ghastly Reach at 7 to make this easier. If they walk away from your W, just let them; it's better to lose a bit of damage than to walk out of position. Weave in auto attacks where you can, but don't feel bad if you can't use them. Practice gauging when you can go all in and when you need to leave.

Also, Leoric's slow attack speed is actually a blessing in disguise. What it means is that you are spending more time moving than you are auto attacking.

Use your E to either dodge telegraphed CC or to quickly reposition if you need to. Spend as little time as you can channeling it.

Basically, stay on your feet, stutter step, and know that you don't need to go all in to do your job.

man i had a stukov player in my game that made a stupid "russian" joke at the start of the game (repeated "vodka" and "nyet" several times) and i made an offhanded comment about it, nothing even remotely offensive

dude said he wouldn't heal me all game, and even went to great lengths to prevent his Q from spreading to me. every time i rotated to the lane he was in, he fucked off somewhere else, and refused to use Q if there was even the most remote chance of it spreading to me. meanwhile, he let other teammates die several times and wound up as the only one without a card in a bot game while i got mvp on cass with 0 deaths anyways

people in this game are such fucks, it was goddamn bots. i had another game where someone told TLV that his three heroes counted as three for the payload on hanamura,
dude claimed it didn't, and when it was proven that they did, he started feeding for the rest of the game.

if you cast root and instantly chain they can walk out of it
if you wait to cast chain then the root will be guaranteed, but only if your two targets don't walk out of line with the big blue circle on the ground
