How do I move from the "doing special moves as Sol" level of play onto something more respectable? I feel very directionless right now. Combo training fucks my sausage fingers up even with simple dudes like Ky and Sol and I have no idea how to actually use those few combos I can do during the matches.
Are the bnb combos at dustloop wiki up to date? I guess I'll just grind them out and play more.

To go from special moves Sol to something respectable you have to start thinking about what your opponent is doing and why they're doing it.

If you have a plan and try to play around your opponent you'll find you might be able to land the combos you can't seem to get going.

Also grinding out combos, block pressure, and setups. just go to training and try to grind out combos for all sorts of situations, anti airing combos, counter hits combos for all your normals, etc.

Work on mission mode to help give you a better understanding of game mechanics. Not sure if the wiki is up to date, but most of the character discords have combos or combo theory. You could try doing the combos in combo mode too, some are too specific with the requirements, but everyone should have at least two AAs, a throw, dust into both followups, and a punish (counter) combo. Those should be sufficient to pick up for now.

Ky is high tier and Raven is a contender for the strongest character in the game. Both are pretty light on execution and are neutral-oriented with some setplay added in for good measure.
Raven has a reputation as being braindead easy to play, but I think that can mostly be chalked up to newbies being unable to deal with his admittedly oppressive airdash and command grab mixups.
Ky definitely requires the higher IQ of the two.

Both characters are great and pretty oppressive if played correctly. I'd say Ky has a slightly stronger defensive neutral while Raven has stronger/less complicated pressure and offense that has an easier time opening people up. Ky does have really fucking good buttons though and can make you suffer on the ground with tick throw setups and stupid plus buttons like 6h and 6k, while having great neutral/midrange buttons like f.s. Ky's pressure is also really strong with 6h and stuff like c.s > 6k > microdash > c.s and other buttons/throws mixed in. I think Ky is potentially top 5, cause he all the tools needed to be strong, and can force players to make bad decisions both offensively and defensively.

Dizzy main here. Throw > microdash > 5k > 4S > 236S is better and easier.
Dizzy doesnt need very complicated combos to do good. You have a decent oki and double air dash. But her defensive options are bad. No meterless reversal and slow and long recovery normals are a pain. Also she only have 2 low hits and 1 overhead (dust) so you will have problem on long sets.
Pro tip: Dont end every combo on ice spike. 2D make better oki for better setups. Use ice spike as corner finisher.

I use the standard control layout and have my index on K, middle on S and ring on H. Index reaches down when I need to hit P and either ring or pinky hits D.

Thinking of switching and resting my Index/middle/ring/pinky on P/K/S/H respectively and hitting D with my pinky. I don't know if it's worth trying to get used to it, but it seems like it would be better.
