real talk. the game released from a new studio in a market oversaturated with hero-based shit. the game is memorable just from looks alone and is noted for being a fresh take on MOBA conventions, so there's praise for visuals and gameplay. plus the playerbase is spread across two different platforms (windows+xbone and PC), but is still healthier than most (lawbreakers being a prime example)

The way I see it, strong healers mean you have meta-comps where a good frontline never dies and any comp without a healer is suicide. so there's pressure that all teams need a healing support (i.e. Overwatch, HotS, TF2).

Any game that stays away from that shit at the very beginning will never feel pressured to make hard-supports or healers, and can roll the all-assassin/bruiser teams that are so much fun, even against teams that do have a support. Hell, the fact that everyone gets out-of-combat regen beats having to walk back to spawn by a large margin, regen that you can activate even in the middle of a firefight just by staying in cover.

i dont think comparing the mercy OW heals to the way sven or voden heals is very fair. gigantic support imo has a higher skill ceiling than OW or similar mobas like hots or lol; meaning a frontline strategy isn't so auto-win like with op/easy mercy heals. i agree that forcing a healer into the meta isn't good, but some combat engagements are already super quick thanks to certain glass-cannon hero types so i don't think the combat would be as long-lasting as you might be imagining

Just barely. yes it's better than say running back to fountain in LoL, but I see a lot of the core gameplay focused around that same aspect. the tug-of-war caused by managing regen forces players to constantly fuck off for 10 seconds behind a wall or back to the creature, gameplay wise it's not too different: the creatures just act as glorified towers. I think it'd be interesting to see what the game would look like with the regen nixed entirely and the healers cranked up a bit, but I doubt a shift so radical in that direction will ever happen

The difference between walking back to cover and walking back to fountain is the sheer armount of time and strategic presence you waste doing either. In Gigantic, it’s the few seconds it takes to run behind cover and make sure no one’s on your tail. In any other game, it’s between ten seconds to a minute of either walking/porting/respawning back to fountain, then another ten-to-thirty seconds of your life lost walking back to wherever you’re needed - the very thing that sprinting/mounting up was invented to combat.

Aside from affecting character development/expectations, healer-centrism brings its own problems:

- You run the risk of making unkillable character combos. Characters who can kill you easily while tanking nearly everything thrown at them are the worst enemies to have to fight, and a healer keeping a painful character alive through anything is the most recurring way for a game to enable them.

- It devalues health as an important resource. Without dedicated healers, every health point becomes more valuable; they can't be easily filled up and replaced without sacrificing time to stay out of combat. When healers abound, it becomes more of an inconvenient number that you expect someone else to always top up for you.

- Someone on the team must ALWAYS be on healer duty. There are people who only want to heal, but making healing optional serves them just as well, while giving them breathing room if they ever want to DPS sometime. But as most cases show us, most people just want to have fun and develop playing as whoever they want to play.

If you’re a dedicated healer, Gigantic is likely going to disappoint you in that regard with every support except Vadasi, but it already demonstrates that you don’t need healers to make a diverse and rich roster. Healing should be kept as just one of a support’s many options and contributions, not their expected standard.

I'm reading a lot on how the Guardians changed over the alpha/beta and wow, they really did try to push for the allied-boss-monster feel. Can anyone from the alpha/beta tell me what I missed out on?

Right now, I feel like Leiran and Grenn are functionally glorified ancients/nexuses/cores who don't really deliver on the "fight alongside a titan" fantasy, just chilling in spawn while we do the fighting for them. But the core gameplay in the 5v5 is already rich and demanding, so much that I wouldn't want to be distracted by them showing up and doing raid-boss things.

Vadassi is pretty complex compared to mercy Desu. she's all about riding a fine line between killing yourself and healing friends.

In my experience, the moment you reach a high MMR (in EU) the game becomes borderline unplayable.

I've played 14 matches since I started counting all of the feeders in both my team and the enemy team. I'm supposed to go for 100 matches before making a forum post about it, but I feel less and less motivated to play this game with every match.

Dah bubble is a talent.
Dah bubble also removes the interrupt so chose carefully
Also when you go dah bubble you lose the weaken and cripple but you get a safe zone for your melee or ranged
For melee get comfortable to jump attacks since it really increases your mobility. Don't forget to use dodge attacks since it gives you distance and can dodge attacks. For example in Siren stand there a rock you can jump attack off of to get to the D point much faster
Melee support asling is great since you do great damage have a weaken and cador fuck mother fuckers up bad thing is you have really low health and people can drop you if your alone

just played a long ass game, it started off hard but we came back until it came to clash, both guardians were 1 wound from death.
both of us had 80 power.

I haven't been able to do much damage to the guardian as margrave has been a walking pile of shit. suddenly while taking out a storm dragon on a neutrual point with margrave, the enemy team flanks and attacks our mountain cyclops
margrave went AFK at that very moment.

They've already buffed the three-charge path; it's pretty good if you want more AoE, especially since it's piss-easy to keep up the damage buff upgrade up now. Not as versatile, but it doesn't really have to be.

so I prioratize Charnok's instant meteor E first. And THEN i prioratize all the damage buffs via burns on LMB. And last if I have room I go for the Q double bounce. Am I doing it wrong? Should I swap to prioritizing burn stacking before meteors?

lmb combo or counter are both good, but i prefer counter for weakness and interrupt
take longer charge and armor for escapes
later take increased life and faster regen
not sure about 2lvl fist upgrades, but i take refresh weakness if counter, increased damage if combo

you can switch fist and leap upgrade early for better harassment, just get in there and bitchslap then charge away
dont forget jump attacks cripple in the back, it is also really satisfying to slamdunk everyone, but watch your stamina
i usually charge away at around 40% hp or so

Every time I get exploded by a Tripp because I dared to have less than full health, or suddenly manage to be targeted by multiple people at once and erased before DD can even cast, I always wish Mozu's health wasn't so goddamn low.
Then I still manage to escape the most bullshit situations with a single button press, consistently wind up with the least deaths on the team, and realize there's no way to justify boosting her survivability unless you want to start balancing around high skill play.

Seriously, on the rare occasion I wind up matched against someone that knows how and when to chase intelligently I know I'm going to be fighting to keep my deaths in the single digits.
I'm used to being the one needing to carry since I've been "enjoying" the 6k+ experience for a while.
So once someone that knows what they're doing figures out I need to be harassed constantly, if not killed outright, the fun stops there.

I mean, it's not like that's so different from someone deciding that Imani/Voden/Charnok need to be harassed constantly. If someone decides to dive any of them all game, they're not going to be getting as much done in terms of ranged output.

Of course, all the others can leave behind DoTs as they escape, while Mozu would have to take a T2 talent for that. Also i guess is the fact that Mozu is best as midrange, and is a lot more vulnerable there.

you can get games fine but matchmaking tries to match up an MMR average, not individual MMRs, so you can get completely brand spanking new players in your games to balance out being high MMR

Balance is alright, not as terrible as, say, Overwatch where one or two characters are stupid powerful and 80% of the cast are always unviable. Developers aren't bright, they keep handing out things for free and forget to balance those that aren't that good. Vadasi for example, dedicated healer but not really that amazing, give her a nerf that'll improve things.

Can't answer for higher elo, at 6.5k I can find games within 5 minutes but I live in Australia so I almost always play during North America off times. It's worth emphasizing that the MMR system is totally fucked because bot matches count towards it, and the bots are fucking retardedly easy, and apparently a lot of the higher MMRfags smurf, it's not worth worrying about.
