I don't think you're entirely wrong. The suite of buffs on his NP are actually pretty useful for some fights. The problem is that there aren't any obvious good teammates to use him with. Best I can think of is a dedicated Quick/Arts crit attacker and a healer.

That's an option but then you have Saberlot and Holmes competing for stars when neither of their star weight skills are up, unless you give Saberlot a crit weight CE.
Maybe a QQAAB Archer like Kuro or Billy. That way you might get some Quick chains once in a while for extra stars, to make you less reliant on star generating CEs.

Doesn't really matter though.
It's not like that you're always attacking, you can just cycle it with NP charging via arts chain.
And with proper set-up you will be overflowed with star anyway.
2 2030, and 1-2 Merlin's NP already produces 20 stars. Not counting stars made from attacking or overcharging Merlin's NP.

No reason to use other trash secondary effect.
The only other good support CE is Prisma Cosmos and Perfect King anyway, outside of drop increaser ones.
No reason to use Q unless you want to make a brave chain since you can make lots of arts chain and spam Merlin's NP for more stars.
