Finally got a 4* Rein, but he's -atk. Do I need to bother using him for now and eventually merging into a better one, or should I just give up on him?

Part 1:

After looking over every character that can be pulled at each color exclusively at 4*, I've determined that pulling for Red for SI purposes gets a little worse, blue mostly benefits, green gets a little better, and colorless is mixed (but still not worth it)

Red:
The good: Roy (TA3), Athena (Moonbow and Sword EXP 3, Wo Dao+ at 5*), Tharja (Rauorblade, Darting Blow 3, and Vengeance), Eirika (Hone Speed 3), and Cain (Wings of Mercy 3, Threaten Attack 2, Brave Sword+ at 5*)
The bad: Marth (Pivot and Escape Route 2 are barely passable for SI), Corrin (Dragon Fang is less than ideal as far as specials go), Ogma (Brave Sword+ fodder at 5*, nothing else), Seliph (+5 HP for healers), Caeda (Fortify Fliers at 4*)
The ugly: Chrom (completely useless for SI), Lilina (completely worthless for SI)

5/12 units are good. However, Hinata and Selena are going to be harder to pull now.


Blue
Almost all upside. Blue's exclusive 4* units are pretty much fantastic for SI.

The good: Catria (Luna), Abel (Swordbreaker 3), Mathilda (Hone Attack 3, Cancel Affinity 2 is decent), Reinhardt (Vantage 3, unit worth upgrading to 5*), Peri (Threaten Def 3), Roderick (Rally Def/Res at 4*, Drive Def 1, and Drag Back at 4*, exclusive user of Firesweep L+ for fodder), Effie (Wary Fighter 3, Death Blow 2), Nowi (Threaten Res 3, Lightning Breath fodder)
OK (none of these are even bad): Cordelia (Unit worth upgrading, 5* Brave Lance+ Fodder), Mae (Draw Back, Desperation 2, Blue Tome EXP 3 ain't bad for training up Odins), Lukas (exlusive user of Fortress Def), Clair (exclusive user of Hit and Run)
The ugly: N/A

8/12 of these are good and only 4 are just "ok". Blue is great, though Odin, Shanna, Florina, and and Subaki chances are unfortunately diluted.

Green
The good: Fae (Renewal 3), Boey (Ignis and Earth Boost 3), Camilla (Draconic Aura and Savage Blow 3), Raven (Threaten Def 3), Hawkeye (Death Blow 2, Threaten Attack 3)
The bad: Sheena (Fortify Armor, nothing else), Titania (Armored Blow 3, Reciprocal Aid), Soren (Fortify Res 3 is the worst Fortify since we have a seal for it)
The ugly: Merric (totally worthless for SI)

5/9 units from the 4* exclusive pool are good (also take note on how few we actually get, fuck IS for ignoring greens). We will miss pulling Barst for Reposition fodder as often, and MAYBE Nino and Arthur but overall this is actually not bad for greens. Putting more Threaten X fodder into the pool works for me.

Colorless
The good: Leon (Ignis, Speed +3, exclusive user of Slaying Bow), Rebecca (Darting Blow 3, Ardent Sacrifice), KLEIN (The only way to get Death Blow 3 currently, Glacies, Quick Riposte 2, Brave Bow fodder Jesus), Kagero (Reprisal, Daggerbreaker, exclusive user of Poison Dagger, best dagger user and arguably worth promoting), Priscilla (top tier healer)
The bad: Jakob (Only Renewal 2 at 4*, nothing else), Lucius (Pain staff, Miracle for memes), Jeorge (worthless for SI but arguably worth promoting)
The ugly: Lachesis (BLEH), Maria (blech), Sakura (blurgh),

5/11 are good, Klein might be tempting but you're still in a sea of colorless starring an additional THREE more worthless healers. It would still take a miracle for me to pull Colorless moving forward.

Nothing likely ever will top bridelia, she was a total outlier. But as far as limited units go, Femui is well above average and completely worth rolling for.

One of the biggest weaknesses of flier teams is their lack of ranged and magic damage. Previously, spring camilla was literally their only option, and her being green meant that unfortunately made most of the rest of the green flier cast (who are generally very good) redundant. A blue mage flier is a big deal, and her stat spread is strictly better than spring camilla for virtually anything.

Now they just need to give fliers literally any red that isn't fucking terrible and we'll be in business.

But yeah, Heroes is a bit of an oddball as far as characters go; the big key in the current meta is being able to easily one-round most enemies if you're an offensive unit, or to easily survive a hit and counterattack if you're a defensive one.

You can afford to run multiple blues in a team because there's so few greens around to threaten/wall them. You can't really afford to run green heavy teams that aren't hector because there's too many reds. But at the same time, most of the best fliers are green.
Before you would run like BCamilla, Cordelia, another blue, token red.
Now you just replace the second blue with new Corrin and you have a whole roster of strong offensive and defensive greens to flexibly pick based on what your team needs.

Corrin has better offensive stats, so she's a better blade tome carrier, and blade tome + buffs is the only way either of them will ever OHKO things thanks to their combined flier/ranged BSTs.

Camilla does have the gimmick that her abnormally high def for a mage allows her to run TARaven and counter archers despite being a flier, which is cool and valuable. Both of the mage fliers have a niche and a place on a flier team, and it's valuable to have both if possible as options.

Blues basically have Cordelia, the short-haired anal slut Cordelia lite, and that's about it. Most blue fliers have awkward middle-of-the-road stat spreads that leave them lacking offensively and defensively, like Catria. Actually Camilla has higher attack by 4 points, which can be a pretty big deal for blade tomes, though yeah I'd agree that generally Corrin would be better with it. Your Mages and Bow Knights will have the range to ORKO things from afar, like those dickass dragons with the 3 Rng breath that ignores Def for 30+ HP.
Genny does have the best Invoke, since her Soldiers are weakest, followed by Tatiana's Pegasus Knights, unlike Silque's Dread Fighters, which'll tank for you and avoid damage.
If you can afford to take hits, Faye + Tatiana is probably the best combo for Saints without reducing your offense. Expel is useless on Great Terrors, both have Physic, Warp + Rescue syngery for sake ORKOs, and Tatiana has Invoke for tanking and baiting (and Faye can Anew her for more summons).
Celica and Alm give each other Crit, Atlas gives Celica Crit, Gray gives Bow Knight Tobin Crit, Tobin gives Sage Kliff Hit, if you want some synergy.
Just rush to Floor 10 and take out Grima as quickly as possible, serenes has a map. Promoting your Dread Fighters back into Villagers to grind stats can cheese it.

Anybody have a reasonable Sharena strategy for Lunatic Lloyd? The problem I'm running into is always where the characters meant to weaken him just outright kill him while Sharena herself just puts him in Glacies range.
