Is it even worth it to use Bane for large pulls (more than 5 enemies) anymore as SCH? I feel like it does nothing and just wastes an AF stack that could be used for Lustrate, Excog, or even Energy Drain. I still use Bane out of insctinct, but I'm not sure how good it is anymore.

I've been busy with other stuff and don't have a static but O1S was alright. The most fun I had with it was getting in a party with a sub-2.5k DPS MNK that claimed the only way we could clear it is if we got LB3 as soon as it came up followed by another LB1 or else we'd hit enrage then proceeded not to actually hit LB at all. Oneshot it the second I got a party who was even halfway decent.

I'll try O2S tomorrow, probably.

The only reason I even brought this up is due to SCH getting Miasma II back. The difference that Miasma II makes is obviously and damage is decent along with Shadowflare. However, when tanks do alpha male pulls I'm not sure Bane is worth it anymore over saving an AF stack for healing. Of course, this is considering said tank is using their cooldowns correctly and DPS aren't taking unnecessary damage.

You have two rotations [really three] in a vacuum: M2 over and over, or applying dots every 24s and baneing and then m2ing over and over. Lets use an easy assumption of a relatively normal GCD of 2.4. for the first rotation, you get Base Damage * Uses in 24s +
Dot Damage * Dot Ticks in 24s or (100X * 10 + 25X*8) = 1200 potency per target or about 50 potency per second per target. The other situation is using 2 of your 10 gcds to apply bio 2 > miasma then baneing, which is equal to (100X * 8 + 25X *8) + (Bane damage)

Bane damage is 200% damage for 2 targets, 280 for 3, 340 for 4, 380 for 5, and then added 20% per target after that. You basically need to find the % number of dot damage to equal out the difference of losing 2 gcds when included in the m2 spam. This equation sets up as 50 = [(100 * 8 + 25*8)]/24 + Bane damage where 100% = 23.33 pps.

Ends up being 8.333 = Required Bane Damage per second


At that point bane needs to do 8.33 PPS per target on average to beat out m2 spam. So you need to find a 8.33/23.33 or 35.7% effectiveness per target.

Using a quick excel sheet to do the boring part for me, you can see it takes 24 targets for bane to start losing effectiveness to m2 spam alone.

I actually incorrectly assumed a scenario, what should have been tested was where the bane scenario is losing a m2 gcd due to having to heal, and the m2 nonstop gcd is using a lustrate to heal. This makes the difference bane needs to make up a bit higher, where it needs to be a 12.5 pps average. This hits at around 11 targets, which is actually a feasible scenario compared to the 24 targets stated earlier.

Aka fuckhuge pulls = skip bane and use lustrate to replace adlo for m2. If you arent netgaining a gcd from swapping the bane aetherflow over to a healing aetherflow, bane is still good up to 24 targets.

It's terrible napkin math and doesn't take into account as many factors as it should, but the damage should be relatively similar either way honestly. I also wrote 500 instead of 400 for 6 targets which skewed it a bit, its actually 9 targets for replacing bane with lustrate and 18 targets for straight vacuum dps, instead of 11 and 24.

How hard is it to level a 2nd class anons?
I got my black mage to 43 now and I like it quite a bit but honestly the queues are starting to suck. I really like summoner too so I want to level it so I can swap between tank/healer but the thought of doing 1-43 just to catch up sounds awful.

How long would it take to just blow through in potd or dungeons?
