Yeah, that would have been amazing and my major complaint about their suggestion anyway is that Makoto's shining moment was pretty much her awakening and she felt like such a watered down version of herself the rest of the game, so seeing more of that would be pretty damned irksome compared to what we could get of Makoto and Sae truly reaching out to each other just like how Sojiro vows to protect the PT as much as he can.

The SIU Director scenes are shit and worthless padding. He doesn't tell you anything that the PT don't figure out a few scenes later. Foreshadowing is supposed to make a coming huge event or twist seem natural instead of artificial and contrived. The Director's scenes have the opposite effect. Instead of allowing the player to figure out the meaning and intention behind the conspiracy's actions, the player is informed in advance, and then the scenes where the PT struggle to catch up makes them look stupid. Foreshadowing requires subtlety to be effective, the Director scenes are awkward and obvious.

We don't dates and romance shit. We have plenty of that already.

What we want are events with your confidants that actually have interesting character development and interaction. I don't want to go on more dates with Haru. I want to go on an adventure where Haru reacts to something, and she talks about it, and we gain more insight into her character as a result of that.

You get no meaningful or interesting character insights during the P5 events. Hawaii comes the closest with Ryuji and Ann talking about romance, but it doesn't go anywhere. You don't learn anything new about either of them. You don't learn anything new about the girl that gets interviewed at the school festival.

Compare to P4's events. When Chie gets interviewed for the beauty pageant, we see her gets stage fright and starts trying to act feminine, even lying about her interests. That's a side of Chie we don't normally see. And we learn how Teddie can be a smooth-talking bastard when he wants to be. Even stuff like the costumes the boys wear reflect the personalities of the girls who dressed them. And the tapes in P3 are all amazing, you see the most unexpected shit sometimes, but they still somehow all fit the characters perfectly.

It's not waifus in sexy situations that matters, it's the waifus' reactions. It's about learning new things about your waifu and the other members of your team.

Anybody know if Japanese review media actually touched on reasonable things to criticize P5 for? Besides Goro, I think it would've been a nearly perfect RPG if the pace was better and it didn't have so much redundant dialogue. I really hope Atlus addresses this stuff in the next Persona and Hashino's fantasy game.

Not him, but what he means is that you get a lot of dialogue regarding the mission and the chat is pretty much used more for repeating the same thing than fun conversation stuff.

I think the issue arises from how the PTs are more 'professional' in doing their stuff than SEES and the IT who come off as winging it, so the writers tried to portray that kind of thing like how an actual coordinated group would work and it fell kind of flat.
