I disagree, and not from a "OMG INVOKER IS SO OP VALVE PLS NERF" way but because I actually love playing Invoker and he is my most played hero, and I think his overall design philosophy is flawed.

Invoker is supposed to be a super versatile mage that can dish out different forms of damage and utility, and is only limited by the ability of the player. But instead hes played like any other character in the game, only specializing in a select few spells and doesn't really become what hes supposed to until later into the game,.

anywhere past level 10 you should have access to at least half of his abilities at a decent level, or good enough to actually cast

and as invoker you get midas so youre basically always the highest level in the game, usually

hes one of the heroes that comes online pretty fucking quick and his 'specialization' only really matter for the first 20 minutes of the game

just rework him so he's Guinsoo's Invoker and buff/nerf his abilities as needed.

not him, I mostly play in 5.7k~ games but honestly I don't find invoker strong in lane at all anymore, hell even most melee heroes can 1v1 him quite easily (tb, jugg). go back a few patches when he had double forge and I might agree he was strong. now though, no way in hell anyone can say invoker is op/broken. his only real comeback now is to be completely ignored and allowed to just freefarm even if he loses his lane.

push his lane in, take his t1, rotate and gank the sidelanes forcing him to defend and watch how useless he is. if you are even a half decent player you can delay his midas til 12+ minutes and completely dumpster him by just carrying dust.

I mean... you just described high level dota in a nutshell, it really is a game of rock paper scissors and the draft has significant weight on the outcome of the game. some heroes have less counters, but almost every hero in dota has at least three that they don't want to go up against, and that has more effect than just individual skill.
