Saizo is probably the best colorless close counter unit in the game on defense.
>High Def and easy 4* +10
>Smoke Dagger makes enemy phase that much scarier if he isn't OHKO'd.
>Rogue Dagger and Bonfire allow him to ORKO a good portion of the task if he survives an attack on player phase. I haven't used the combo in a while since I have a smoke+ and only a regular rogue dagger, but it's a fun build since he doubles most units and surviving physical damage gets him into desperation mode easily.
Close Counter, Seal Res or Def with Smoke Dagger for the best results. Threaten Attack for C Slot. Pretty cheap unit outside of close counter. Bonfire and Pivot to ensure he stays out in front.
Try to get a +DEF or ATT Saizo with -res. Any Boon is fine, but -res is the only bane you'll want. I get multiple defenses when there's multiple fliers as bonus units. Spring Camilla is rare so he'll definitely serve you well against flier meme teams.

This video, that you don't have to watch made me think. In it the dude basically separated the Sonic fanbase into three groups of people that refuse to play anything that's not just like THEIR game. Classic cucks, Dreamcast douches, and modern morons.

It made me realize we have three separate fanbases too. Kagacucks (not a thing really outside of Japan, but they are significant), GBA babbies and, well, modern morons (sounds better than "reeeee Nu-FE cucks")
These fanbases look on every other section of the fanbase with scorn and derision. We can't get along.

And I got to thinking, is there any way to rectify this? Make a game like Fates only make it like Sonic Generations. What I mean by that is there are 2 storylines that make up the game. One storyline is the modern FE and the other is the old FE. The modern FE one can have all the elements of the modern games such as MU, marriage, children, waifus, 3D animation etc. while the retro FE one can have the awesome sprite work back. That way modern fans can enjoy their new masterpiece while the FEggots can dine on their new plate of old, smelly shit.

Story was hot garbage, and couldn't get myself to like ANY of the characters.
Like I don't know, it seriously just read like a crappy Shonen, and those really piss me off.
I think my hatred for the characters was one of the biggest factors. It's hard to use them when they bother you. Most of them were just written so poorly with bad supports.
And then they force a bunch of deaths, even more like modern popular Shonen, in order to try and make you sad. It just doesn't work if you don't give the characters any substance beforehand. I could count 4 of those deaths and none of them were good.
Gameplay wise, it wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't noteworthy at all. There were a few fun maps, but other than that, the difficulty curve was all over the place, with sudden unpromoted and promoted units everywhere with huge stat differences. And most of the maps were just, wait for the enemies to come at you, clear them off and move forward a bit because reinforcements are coming anyways.
I'm just very unhappy right now and wish I could have all that time back

Smash bros melee was my first Fire Emblem followed by Eliwood's game. I beat the game and figured out 5 or so years later Eliwood wasn't a mistranslation of Roy.

Shadow Dragon was terrible since the difficulty settings added enemy spawns you'd never know about on your first attempt. Normal mode was too easy and anything past hard was too unpleasant to play. I prefer the NES version and even the SNES versions cut chapters and all. I don't have a DS so I don't have an opinion on awakening I like Lucina in Smash 4 and Tharja is my wife

Delthea is the best unit out of the banners and is just as good as Linde if you need a blue mage. Just pray you don't get Mathilda because she's also blue and shit overall since Cancel Affinity only work on Archers well enough.
Sonya is decent if you don't already have Julia.

Regarding the writing, Fates writing is just terrible and the other guy is 100% correct when he said Birthright is the epitome of Fates writing. Conquest is really fucking retarded, specially from 15 on.

Gameplaywise though, the maps are far different. There is more objective variety (defend chapter, escape chapters) and side objectives too, so it's not just a routfest. Enemies have skills that can be really fucking annoying (seal def, Lunge, fucking Life and Death fuck that map I hate it). The maps might come off as a bit gimmicky for some, specially towards late game, but generally they are well designed. From what you said though. You probably wouldn't like Conquest that much from what you said, I really like it and I just skip dialogue whenever I replay it. Echoes is far better on the writing and atmosphere departments, but the gameplay is weak, strategy-wise

Instead of activating at 50% max it's activates at full health and stops when you hit 30% hp.
Works regardless of range of units so is a sword user gets attacked by a bow user first hit goes to bow, then sword. If the bow has more speed then it attacks after the sword.
Basically making it a better version of Quick repost but fused with Close/distant counters. Works best of tanks and anti mages.
