While models are better (for the most part) and animations are definitely a huge improvement, SF5 has that weird clash between background and character making these games sort of ugly to look at. Sometimes it rubs me as a fan-made game given the huge difference in assets. In some sense, SF4 is more pleasing to look at than SF5, despite so many technical improvements in SF5.

both characters have a 'long road' in terms of skill

with johnny your 'long road' will be getting down his difficult combos and overall hard execution. it's worth it because hes one of the best characters in the game with no real flaws

pots tough road is that hes slow as fuck and you really have to condition your opponents into a certain mindstate in order to work. he's all yomi, but when you get in you can win against anyone because he's a grappler and lol grapplers. they're both fun and nobody says you can't play both of them.

also aus used to have that major shadowloo showdown so maybe you can find a locals around u if you tried but damn

I've also just started playing some Guilty Gear rev2 on PC. I played some games with a friend but once he started losing he got tired and quit. Made me realize i'll be spending a lot of time playing this either alone or with people online. I had some fun but the most fun i had was once i looked in the command list as Elphelt and saw there werent as many commands as i was expecting. I'm not sure if this is something i should be happy or sad about, but i feel its something to be relieved about.

I had fun playing around in the training mode figuring things out but i couldnt help but feel overwhelmed. I've been getting busy lately and i feel i'll only become busier. Is there any hope for me to become halfway okay as her if i am not able to play very much at all a week or should i pack it up and relunctantly steam refund it? I did have fun but damn i forgot that i need to put in work for fighting games if i'll want to have some fun online as them since i certainly wont be getting any fun offline with it. Ahit sucks man.

As long as you know what to practice and get the basics down, probably should be able to do ok even if you can't play actively. Probably would help to have equally (un)skilled players to play with but that's probably bit of a crapshoot unless you use discord or something.

I'm pretty good at not losing my ass when i lose and i'm always willing to admit when i'm doing poorly or playing poorly at something, so i think i would be fine with that. I guess if i'm able to focus at least on one character and become decent i should be able to have some fun with it even if i remain pretty garbage at them. Guess i'll fuck around some more in it and see how much time i can put towards it often .

This may sound counter productive, but alex does well against all of them except guile, and even then its not impossible. Play patietnly, micro step in neutral so that you're ready for aas and whiff punishing, train them to block on every wake up, eat throws but tech when you notice patterns, learn how to punish with jabs. When you learn all of that birdie will seem like an absolute breeze. They're both similar in some regards but alex will teach you defense.

I'm a fang player and alex can definitely take fang's zoning. Just keep in st.hk range and if he tries to set anything up he eats at least a cc into knockdown.
