STORY PREDICTION TIME
So people have already theorized that the non infinite enemies are fakes based on the fact that Chaos flashed. This seems fairly likely. The question is, why show them at all if they're just fakes? My theory is that they're Infinite's creations, and that we'll still fight them, they'll just be slightly less powerful than the originals.
This does beg the question - why fake Zavak and Metal Sonic? Aren't they already on Eggmans side? Well, maybe they aren't all fakes. Shadow had a weird eye thing going on in the trailer, maybe he's brainwashed. Metal Sonic and Zavak are the originals, and Chaos is the only fake. Shadow probably brainwashed by Infinite, with Chaos created by him.

These are my two theories. I'd love to hear any other interpretations.

I was incredibly iffy about the custom character playing a big role in the story, but was hugely relieved when I found put it's not so much your character that's important, but all recruits of the resistance. Your character isn't some Mary Sue, they're one of many newly recruited members of the resistance that must carry out important missions along with all the other custom characters. It's more that the resistance is important to the story and not so much your character, we merely see what one new soldier is going through.

IMHO they executed this as absolutely perfectly as possible, and I think it's positively brilliant.

How do you think the levels will be laid out in Sonic Forces? Will it be more like SA2 in that you play one character's stage, then a different character's, and continues to switch off, or will it be more like SA1 in that you choose Sonic, Classic Sonic, or Avatar Character and play through all of their stages at once? First seems most plausible, but I wouldn't mind having the second.

Honestly the only style switching I had a problem with was the trap at the beginning of the song. Outside of that, I liked about everything else.

So far, I'm really loving the tone of Forces so far. It's not like Shadow or 06 where it's all dark or all edgy. There's a neat balance with the light-hearted camp of Sonic & friends, along with the dark & somewhat edge of Infinite.

I'm saying that what is "ok" and what isn't is purely defined by the millions of people around you and even tho you think yourself to be contrarian and against the waves and living life the way you want, you are actually just doing what your environment, be that pop-culture as a whole or just your shitty little town's population, considers acceptable on some level.
And both those things are bound to change over time, very fast seeing the rate of change in culture ever since the rise of mass-media and the internet.

So tl;dr your experience being ashamed of shonen angst isn't reflective of what the kids playing Sonic Forces are going to experience in their adulthood.
