I did it. I beat V1 Savage with pugs. And it only took me a quarter of the day and a massive amount of mental exhaustion.

It's really not, though. Like, objectively so, it can't consistently provide as much DPS or utility as the other two even at its best in an actual fight and that's not touching the fact where it's the single most punished job for mistakes by far in a game where 4.0 DRG exists. It's still workable, sure, but it absolutely needs a lot of help.

Got to say, it wasn't very fun going through the final dungeon with highly-geared DPS zooming about absolutely destroying everything. The need to have to go back to the inn to actually watch the cutscenes for these two dungeons was just jarring.

Things only get better content-wise from here though, right? And do I need the expansions to go past the level 50 cap in EXP?

Also, that really sucks about the final dungeon. Thankfully they learned from this exact thing, and all future dungeons have nearly no cutscenes mid dungeon. Dialogue is during fights and cutscenes happen afterwards. They split up MSQ final bosses into a trial after the final dungeon for HW and SB. So that helps.

Find some friends to do future content with so you can enjoy it and not steamroll it and miss half the shit.

The undisputed god of DPS slots is still NIN. After that, BRD, RDM, and SAM are all solid picks, with MNK being right behind them (and they'll probably outscale SAM later on in the expansion). BLM and DRG are both doing pretty alright but aren't super desired, the latter you bring mostly for when you want to beef up a really good BRD player. MCH and SMN are basically directly outclassed by RDM and BRD respectively.

PLD is the best tank, the other two are about even in the long run but DRK is better when you're first getting into new content because of its defensive utility that WAR doesn't bring.

AST is still the best healer in general. WHM's great for prog but SCH was seeing more play in speedkills even before it got buffed. Overall they're also pretty even though.

I'm really fucking new to this class and did some research to git gud at it. Came by this post:

Stating that the 3.0 rotation did more potency per second than the new 4.0 version.

The numbers were for 4.01 BLM so I updated it to the new cast times of 4.05 and got this: (pic related)

Seems that with the new buffs, you can sneak an extra fire 4 from the 4.01 rotation adding time to get in a foul, if you get procs you can guarantee the next foul as well and can skip the b4 entirely for more dps.

I showed this to top BLMs and they all called me a fucking retarded.

I don't understand much of this class and want to learn more about it, the math says its better to 3.0, but they tell me to use 4.0. Are they in disbelief? Am I missing something? Am I actually retarded?
