Does anyone here play Magicians with Z-ARC? I'm thinking about building one but I'm not sure how hard the new format will hit them or if links hit them at all. I have never played Pendulum so I have no idea about how it goes with this Deck and links.

Both Tokens turn into Link Spiders, who turn into Akashic Magician, who bounces the Grinder you carefully placed in front of an EMZ. You then SS Grinder again, and use one of many methods to get more materials to make Firewall. Every time Firewall triggers, you summon a Fairy Tail - Luna from hand, who bounces Grinder, repeat to either do some meme combos like draw your entire deck with 2 Emerals looping, or do what I do and Extra Link with a live Trigate Wizard. This is an old decklist because it's all I have on mobile, I cut FBG and the OCG only shit, added some random techs and 2 Exodius. It's not really viable but it's just fun to abuse Links. I'm gonna play this at locals and enjoy wasting 8-10 minutes of my opponent's life as I combo T1.

Yeah it's a really fun memedeck, and it's semi-consistent since you can actually REALLY use the Bamboo Sword engine, unlike in Exodia where your Cursed sits on a RML, you can stick it into a Token, Link and get the search for Golden. And Hidden Armory increases consistency, Grinder locks your NS already. Best field ends like this, and in a perfect world you have a Snow in grave as well for disruption. Or you can meme and throw in Exodia + 2 Emerals in your Extra for the deck draw loop. But I prefer just using 7 monster zones at once, it's so satisfying.

The combo required:

A normal summon
Neptune
Instant Fusion

You have double summon / Seraphinite if you need an extra normal if you have to normalsummon the zoos / predaplants
You have easy access to predaplants with lonefire blossom which also makes you get m-x-saber invoker for the zoo plays which lead you to an easy rank4 to get King of Fearl imps to search Neptune.
You can start the zoo plays with either Terrortop, barrage, Tenki, or just drawing one.

You generally tribiuted not only Nightingale but also King of Feral imps or Daigusto Emeral since only tribiuting 1 is optional, so he gains attack of both monsters.

That leads him to have baseline 3300 or 2800 + 5000 (500 atk p. level) instead of only 6000 attack. Not even the Lightning can beat this. It was an interruptable combo, especially with cards like ash nowdays but it just required so little to pull off

It was pretty consistent and practicaly impossible to deal with unless you have something that boosts attack or a kaiju / lavagolem etc

Wait, so I'm confused.

I thought you could only control one Extra Monster Zone no matter what, and then you had to focus on special summoning Extra Deck monsters to the Main Monster Zones at that point. So its possible to take both as long as you have Link monster pointing to it? Does that just completely cuck your opponent out of any Extra Deck Summoning if you control both zones?

I thought I understood Link Summoning and the EMZ but now I'm confused again. I thought it was like, every player could only control one but that still mattered because you have to take into account where Link Monsters point to.

You can control both zones. And currently the only way is through something called "Extra Link".

To Extra Link, you have to summon link monsters in MUTUAL links with each other from one EMZ to the other EMZ.

People don't usually talk about it because there is no deck that can consistently do it in a way that matters(there in no point in controlling both EMZ if an opponent can easily deal with it).

A MUTUAL link only happens when two monsters adjacent to each other points to each other. Because there are 3 dead spaces on the new board, mutual link between some spaces are impossible.

The easiest way to Extra link would be to summon a "left down" link, summon "up left, and up right" link, and then a "right down" link on the second EMZ(making a V with both EMZ). Except that there is no link monster that has both "up left" and "up right" and there won't be an easy to summon one in a long time.

Sure. But the end results are pretty similar. Synchros and tuners practically became obligatory. And you could forget basically forget playing older decks against someone with an extra deck of Synchros and expect to win.

It's really not that different. If anything Links and the new master rules are slightly more lenient towards older decks. Because decks that never used the extra deck or never relied on having multiple extra deck monsters out simultaneously, still function just fine. They're even the decks topping currently.

Synchros became big completely naturally. The mechanic got introduced, and people naturally gravitated towards it because of the ability to access powerful cards from the now Extra Deck.

You say that no Extra Deck put you at a disadvantage, but you can't ignore decks like Machina and Gadgets who played using main deck bosses too.

MR4 are as divisive as they are because Konami is trying to unnaturally force people towards Links by nerfing the other mechanics. If they had just introduced Links without restricting the other methods, their would not be the backlash that they got.
