I honestly doubt we're looking at 20k+. The discord server has ~1k in it. The Elysium discord was 10k+ with MASSIVE amounts of hype from retail, nost shutdown, etc. There are large playerbases at Warmane and Elysium that are content where they are. They might come try it out but they are unlikely to empty their servers and all come at once.

I'm guessing about ~8k players trying to log in on day one. The server will probably cap at 6k, depending on performance, and they'll keep an eye on how the queue is progressing. It took Elysium a week to pump out another server, which died a few months later, so I highly doubt Gummy will get one out nearly as fast or feel the need to even release one if the population starts to calm down. There will be many players that are just there for the hype that won't end up getting very far in leveling. The first week will ALWAYS be a shitfest in regards to queues and server stability.

In any case this is all just speculation. Gummy could have his cap at 3k or lower if he wants a 'true TBC' experience. We will have to suffer through the queue and let the population equalize before they even think of making another server. For the most part, second servers are normally temporary bandages that fall apart once the population calms down in a matter of weeks.

I dont think gummy will have a massive pop mostly because its NA, with VPN ban so no chinks/Russians can play, and requires an English client. Also warmane just came out so most of the casuals would rather play there and Elysium is still doing fine.

Affliction by far. You can go demo around 60ish if you want and still do well. Demo is actually a bit better at soloing 5 man quests, but does less damage.

That's my point. Unless you actively seek out a "mature" adult guild, you're going to be playing with some memesters as that's just what the internet is - especially for private mmo servers.
Like you said, much of it depends on the leadership. Even some guilds that seem uptight in their recruitment ad aren't, and some that appear like fun wacky dudes are spergy tryhards.
It sucks but you just have to try it and meet people, then be ready to take off if it sucks.
/vg/ guilds aren't destined to be terrible but in the current climate it's pretty unlikely that you're going to encounter anything but memes, trannies, and teenagers. Anyone worth a shit doesn't bother sticking around.

In Burning Crusade, are druids and priests the best healers in the game? I see them listed as "primary healers" everywhere I look, while paladins and shamans are listed as "secondary healers". Priest has the most options. It requires the most thought. You use 2-3 ranks of each healing spell depending on the amount of health the target is missing. It's very rewarding to players with fast reflexes. I fast shield can save a DPS' life. It's THE class if you want to outshine everyone and carry bad players. Even if you were deadset against RDF (and honestly I think a lot of people deadset against it now were okay with it when it first happened cross server) it was just too convenient compared to making your own group or by even using the server-only version that was... I want to say the patch just before that but I could be off.
I know I loved RDF when it came out, especially since I was in school at the time and didn't have a lot of time to wait on people for groups. And of course now with hindsight I see how that was so bad for a lot of crucial elements of the game.

I also seem to remember when RDF came out it was primarily used as the fastest way to get badges since most people didn't need dungeon gear at that point but I could be off again.

Oh I dont play Retail, Im happy with Wrath, the best expansion, IMO. That expansion had a nice balance between being social and being progressive, because unlike vanilla, even if you didnt have a guild at the moment, it didnt feel like you were stuck, you always felt like you were progressing because you were actually contributing to the group.
