No because it's an absolute trainwreck with crashes all over, has no quests or anything to do, and lots of general mistakes. Bottom line is it's a complete joke considering this was five years worth of work from "competent" modders. Insisting on using Open Cities is pants on head retarded. It's comparable to Falskaar except that was made by one guy in a shorter time. It's only saving grace is that it looks decent in some spots but really it's nothing to write home about compared to any other modded Skyrim locations.

I will say, poo-pooing the fact that it's taken five years seems a bit harsh considering it is a free mod and the team probably has jobs and lives outside of it. Not because of the money, paid modding fell through because it failed to understand that modders mod because it's a creative outlet, not to make a living. But with CC you can work with Bethesda's in-house team, which is like a dream come true for a lot of people. You can deliver material faster, better, and more consistently.

And this might end up being good for consumers too, to some extent. God knows I've made some popular mods, like with ~1 mil downloads across all platforms, that haven't been updated in months simply because I lost interest and don't feel like it. With a legal obligation on your tail, might have to rethink things.

Still, obviously it's going to be somewhat worse for the typical mod user, but I think you guys have had it pretty good for a long time now.

Currently finished:

Lightning Spear
Great Lightning Spear
Sunlight Spear
and Sol Invictus.

The Deathflare is still being polished, still need to work out a script to remove become ethereal. Other than that, those other spells should be fine.

The lightning spear varients are done visually but I need to think of an effect. The Sol Invictus is pretty much entirely done, and now only needs balancing changes.

It's a 100 damage/second spell that lasts for 20 seconds, then explodes for even more damage. Even though the mana cost is high, the area is small, and the damage burns the caster too, I'm still not sure. Might take some number tweaks.

Again, you're misunderstanding this whole thing. Not one modder I know gives a shit about the potential profit. Actually, with CC you don't even get a percentage split. Just a flat fee. Which sucks.

CC is just basically a shiny new set of tools to help creators express them creatively. Not one person I know actually cares about the money. Me included. And I'd love if you illegally ripped any CC shit I made and gave it out for free.

The thing is that it gives you more options when modding. You can specialize instead of hastily trying to make your own resources. You don't have to deal with people disappearing off the internet, one of my guys went homeless in the middle of a project.

Now you have timetables. Schedules. Delivery dates. It feels more consistent and professional, and you don't have to tear your hair out at other people's stupidity.

That said, for slower, casual projects normal mods will exist.

CC might suck for one part of the modding community, but for the other it's not THAT bad. Can you really complain about mod authors being selfish, when you'd instead deny them these tools for your own benefit?

Why didn't anyone just add new vanilla-ish quests to the game without going overboard on new content? Like its one of the biggest areas of Skyrim modding that is lacking.
