Shido's dungeon is really only something that gets better after you've been through it once. Thought the dungeon leading up to Goro was the worst part of my first playthrough but it was a lot better on subsequent runs when I learned how to speedrun it.

But if you're really thinking of dropping the game because of it you really need to rethink things.

Honestly the Giant Bomb endurance run is probably your best bet, although they never did Golden. And Gerstman's reaction to seeing Marie for the first time after the endurance run was over was classic.

You learn the patrol patterns and get the timing down for them perfectly, they're fixed. In the cruise ship specifically when you load into a room the patrol always resets so you can manipulate the shadows in the room very easily. I used this mostly to carve the shortest, least dangerous path through the big rooms with forced rat sections and for the last maze where if you hang to the right and let the first swat soldier coming down the hall six steps past the point where you can easily avoid him you can rush through the rest of the area with all the other shadows conveniently facing the wrong way.

I did something similar for most of the dungeons in p5 since I loved the game so damn much though some were less substantial time saves than others and I was legit proud of a route I came up with for getting through the last section of the bank without triggering a single random battle,
it involved a series of slow walks that turned into sprints and a couple of full stops the whole process was highly autistic now that I think about it
