I don;t really see how the new combat is more fun than the one from original VII. It clearly is an attempt to reintroduce combos into SeHa's battle system, but so far it looks like they threw out the turn order management which was the most fun part of it.
Defence skills/counters are a gimmick, either used 100% of the time if the AI is predictable or completely useless.
Limited healing could be tactically interesting but most likely will only lead to more grinding.

Yeah, Compa's alright as a healer, but she's super squishy and will fall off in usefulness even as a healer to Plutia fairly soon. If you have Peashy, she's a pretty good attacker that can take some hits sometimes. If not, Iffy might be a decent choice, since she's a bit bulkier and does fairly good damage for that point in the game

No I don't have Peachy. I benched Iffy because none of her stats stood out except for TEC. Also I liked the idea of having two healers for this fight because I knew I was gonna be difficult. I wasn't ready for Compa getting one shotted every time

Fair enough. Tec is a fairly good stat to have for this fight, since you can actually hit her more than once in a blue moon.
Having Compa next to Neppy probably isn't the wisest idea, since that's an appealing way to hit 2/3 of your party. Maybe off to the side? Could try to make a more appealing target by putting neppy and Plutie closer together so Noire focuses on them a bit more, but you'd have to heal them every turn, probably, assuming they take any hits.
