It would be pretty hard for valve to know that you are even doing this.. the mod is just downloading the reef map file and replacing your default map with this file. It would be hard to detect in this case. Don't overextend, don't stay in lane at low HP, have good vision, supports carry TPs. It's not always easy to coordinate all this in pubs but that's how you deal with him.

Yesterday i played Mirana offlane where i went late midas (17 min, had to go aquila, boots and other stuff first), but ended 10-2 and carrying. The trick here is that, why i couldn't pressure the carry enough, i was aiming good arrows and doing stuff without farm, so i just went midas because i didn't really needed anything.

I go midas with CK because i know CK farms slow.
I go midas on supports when i know the game is gonna last forever.
I go midas on offlanes if i'm doing really good.

Other midas, like Phoenix and Arc warden, are a must always though.
