I legitimately enjoyed Fates plot more than Echoes.

Echoes is just so fucking BORING. It's inoffensively bland in both characters and plot, the Jay Leno of video game plots. It's so riddled with cliches I felt like I was reading a high school fiction textbook, and it plays everything one of them straight. "Farmboy who turns out to be a prince teams up with a ragtag group of heroes to fight an ancient evil." COMPLETELY STRAIGHT. No twists or even attempts at a twist, the entire plot goes from A to B in 30 hours with nothing in between.

Alm and Celica are both so incredibly boring and inoffensive I fell asleep reading their dialogue. Alm is the bog-standard "good" protagonist, like Roy and Eliwood except he's actually MORE boring, seriously I can't think of ANYTHING noteworthy about his personality. Celica only fares slightly better. Both of them have been justifiably compared to Gary/Mary Stus.

Fates writing was at least interesting. It tried to do something innovative and failed spectacularly, but it was glorious to watch

So when do the Mark is a cuck memes start coming in? I'm still only halfway done with Lyn mode

They're good for padding score. Use whichever you have available (arena), or whichever fits a map better (GHB). You'll want the "blazing" types, though, and Blazing Wind is the best for stuff that clumps together. I have Blazing Fire on most units since I can't seem to stop rolling bad natured Jeorges.

As far as I know: no they do not. There's barely ANY videos for stuff like Langrisser, Feda Emblem, Arslan, etc. Hell, alot of these games even lack footage for alternative endings. Chapter 1 will be oddly hard and it will only get harder for the units of chapter 1 later on so be prepared for the oddly placed difficulty. It's also probably best to only work on a few chapter 1 units longterm for your first time because then you'll be scattering your exp and none of them may end up very good.

RD is way harder, even on normal, expect sucky hit rates because of biorhythm, try to level Nolan and Edward as much as you can and keep your Bexp for when units start capping stats, because level ups using bexp in this game always raise 3 stats, and if the unit has some of their stats capped they will start gaining stats they never seem to get

Pretty much.
Myrms in 7 are super boom or bust. Their strength growth is awful, meaning they rely on crits to match the damage of other classes. Their redeeming factor is their dodge, which can be excellent or just good depending on growth rng. If you get lucky with strength growth, Lyn can be very good. If you don`t get lucky with strength growths, Lyn is a wet noodle whose main role is stalling axes and trolling archers.
Guy generally has better growths at the expense of not having a unique weapon, but since unique weapons are made of paper in 7, he ends up being Lyn`s functional replacement.

I use the default Blazing Light for my Raven Leo.
When baiting greens and colorless he can use his special after one or two encounters. The WTA ignoring damage is nice when you have TA. He can actually damage blues with it.

I use them to instantly level up units to 20 so that I can unlock their potential in order to pass on a skill through skill inheritance. It's more efficient to run through a few of the training or first stratum to get the unit to level 10, because it's after that the leveling becomes slower, enough to justify just using crystals.

Other than that they aren't used at all.

Ended up with +res/-atk which was probably a good thing since an even remotely usable one would have been way too tempting to hold on to instead of giving Elise WrathfulStaff. If Fiona or Meg get a single point of EXP, you're playing the game very wrong. They are both irredeemable.
Use Master Seals/Master Crowns when units hit level 20 to save EXP and weapon durability
Edward isn't worth using compared to other myrms because of how little EXP is available in part 1, but if you decide to invest in him he can turn out pretty well.
Don't use Sothe, he eats EXP and he's already nearly capped at the beginning of the game
Cavalry is not very good in this game compared to others in the series. Invest in fliers instead.
There is a strong argument to be made that Haar is the most overpowered unit in the series. Do with that information what you will.
Don't be stupid with your herons. Canto dancers can be broken, but they also die in one hit to basically everything in the game. They're much more fragile than Reyson was in PoR
It's generally worth it to use at least one speedwing on Micaiah.
Save your 3-10 range tomes. It will be tempting to use them in the chapters where you get them, but you'll be happy you saved them when you hit endgame
Use Elincia when you can
Don't use Lucia, Tormod, Muarim, or Vika. They show up fairly early in the game at pretty high levels for what you have, but it's because they have the shittiest availability in the game.
Laguz got nerfed. Birbs are generally worth using, but beasts are p bad.
Laguz royals are the exception to the above rule. They are as broken as they were in PoR endgame

Holy crap, thanks for all this information anon. It seems there's a lot of pacing issues gameplay-wise for the Dawn Brigade from what I'm reading. Also Reyson himself was pretty fragile but knowing that the herons in this game are even more fragile is good to know.
It's also nice to know that the laguz are nerfed, considering I never really invested in them during PoR, but I'll keep an eye on the birdies.

I literally did everything opposite of what you said in my last three playthroughs. Then again, when you play the game enough, it's only fair to start meme'ing around at that point.

I would argue Haar isn't the best unit in the game. Sure, RD's wyverns aren't weak to arrows like in other games, but his average speed and poor resistance can hold him back a bit, especially considering the decent amount of thunder mages in parts two and three. As for fliers in general, I've never used Jill or Marcia so I can't speak for them on that, but Haar is overall a pretty strong unit, Elincia's amazing. Even with her being vulnerable to archers, her high speed and luck make her almost impossible to hit. Tanith and Sigrun need a bit of baby'ing in the beginning, but once they hit seraph knight, they're comparable to Elincia IMO.
Lucia and Edward interesting. Either they can turn out complete shit or somehow amazing after hogging all your other units' EXP. I typically use Lucia just because she's my favorite of the Tellius memedons, but yeah, typically she's pretty bad due to her poor availability.

Marcia is a goddess if you train her.
It helps that with good positioning she can basically solo Geoffrey's Charge and 3-9, even earning you extra bexp in 3-9 by killing the one soldier who lights the top row of houses on fire on turn one.
I gave her the Nullify scroll as an experiment in one run and she could solo the desert chapter in part 4, crossbows and all. She ended up getting the Wishblade in that run.

I may have spoken without too much thought, now that I think back on it. I would be inclined to say Ike or even fucking Shinon, but they too have their share of issues. Ike suffers the same poor resistance issue as Haar, and can easily be screwed over in speed. As well as time-gated promotion. Shinon, while dodge-tanking and literally tanking everything, has little use during enemy phase, and is often stuck with 20 enemies surrounding him while he angrily stares at them.

I try to have her reach T2 by P1 Endgame, so when she arrives with Ike she can deal with wyverns easily, you can also level her until 18 an use some bexp for her to reach lv1 with Ike so she gets some spd level ups as she tends to cap res and str
