The reason bosses like the Watchdog were considered dangerous is because they could dynamically adjust their attack patterns or chains (e.g. one bite or multiple bites chained together). If you weren't familiar with the way the boss worked, you would run back in because you backed off after the first bite, and he stopped. Then when he bit again next time, you would run back in too soon and get fucked by the follow up bites because you thought he would stop after one.

The orphan, on the other hand, has canned attack patterns. If you see him start a certain chain, you know exactly how it will play out after seeing it just once.

Don't get hit. Hit him until he dies. Sorry, but I don't really have anything concrete because it's such an erratic fight, but that's why I love it. Fighting him in the water is always a good idea. More room, easier to dodge lightning, harder to get stuck on the environment.

kek, those are what I use, BoM and Burial Blade. I've got cane and Rakuyo as side hoes too. 15 ARC also nets you Hunter's Bone and Empty Phantasm Shell. You can go to 18 for Augur if you'd like, would be good for tricked modes.

Actually, you're absolutely right. He's the most souls-like boss in the game. Dark Souls 2, specifically, because I'm getting hit by attacks that I clearly dodged. And it seems like he only gets visceral attacked when the game is in a good mood. Not that he's hard to parry, it's just that the visceral won't fucking come out. 18 Arc gives you shit like Beast Roar, all the other garbage 15 gives you, and Augur.

Augur works well with two-handed weapons (e.g. BoM, Rakuyo, Burial Blade) because it gives you access to parries when two-handing, and people never expect it.

I have plenty of builds that use Augur. It doesn't fit my SKL build thematically and if I had it, I simply wouldn't use it. The layers seem to be:

I strongly feel that the yharnam of the game isn't the real yharnam, but a dream recreation of the city that you enter into after blood ministration. This allows it to be one of the layers in the dream dimension.
