I honestly don't think the mech is that bad anymore compared to before they revamped ghent and added scenario mode. In old ghent the mech was even worse than it was now since the old skillset for it was ass and its basic attack couldn't do damage on high difficulties at all. At least now you can actually kill shit with it instead of being forced to jump out of it because it did literally no damage.
