The plot is your basic bread and butter warrior of light having to fight evils to keep the world safe for you and your friends. Like any other final fantasy, there's more to it than that, but that's the basic gist of things.
That said, the world building is pretty phenomenal, even if they built it from a ton of references, (like Doma, or the entire Empire being reminiscent of the Ghestalan Empire) - they've flushed out countries, they've flushed out the origins of magics, the summons, and technology. They've even got writing devoted to how the units of measurements in the game were formed.

You don't give dual wield to your finishers, silly. DKC imperils dark 100% and does a 750% hit. That's enough to massively increase the damage of a Deathbringer Orlandeau chain AND massively cap it.

Plus he heals to full at the end of every round so he doesn't even stress your healers.

A healer who can heal twice a turn, either a DC healer or someone like Ashe.
You need to heal DKC twice per turn, once to get him over 60% HP for rhe first hir and again to keep him there for the second hit.

If you heal him once, he still suicides unless the enemy did less than 40% of his HP in damage (which is very easy).

How much damage is your party taking? It's not gonna be common for your party to be >60% hp with a competent tank. All you have to do is time your heal when he starts the attack, it's not tough by any means. Since he heals himself to full anyway you just need him to survive his attack.

Definitely save the tickets, the Nier collab is probably coming in the next two months. You want a nice stock of them saved up. However the 5k guaranteed 5* pull is such a great deal that you should do it for sure, hopefully you'll get a nice 5* unit to round out your team.

You can already make a pretty okay team with Orlandeau/Rikku/Refia/Chizuru/Rain(?), they should let you go through most content pretty easily. Just focus on getting resources for Nier after the G5* pull I'd say.
