Been having fun with Expeditions Viking, so I decided to buy a legit copy since the pirated version I had was an old version. Seemed they tweeked the skills a little since there, you can't get tier five skills right off the bat anymore, you have to have had spent a certain amount of skill points beforehand.

I'm sorry about that. I'm prone to disclosing too much information at any given time due to my problems not just including schizophrenia but Autism, among other things. $4 on Steam, looks like a Gameboy game, describes itself as an open world turn-based RPG with a single-use item combat system themed around exploring the world looking for rare items. Takes place in the land of MU, described as a world between life and death. That part reminds of Central Station in a sense, given that Central Station basically takes place in Purgatory, albeit one that looks like a train station and surrounding districts in a city that have been flattened in such a way that going up or down is the same as going forward.

Just finished the paid version of OneShot and the extra stuff.

Comparing it to the original, I like the changes and expansion to the world and narrative compared to the free version I played years ago. Really fleshed it out a lot more than the more barebones free version, especially the Refuge. But it definitely didn't have the impact on me that I had when I played that free version and whenever anyone fresh plays this for the first time. Kind of a shame, but nothing you can do about it.

And I know I'll get memed on for mentioning it, but it reminds me of an aspect of
Undertale. OneShot lets me do what I always wanted to do in UT, though: make sure EVERYONE is safe and free. And I really appreciate that this update does that, instead of wallowing in the "no you have to accept not everything can be fixed" attitude UT employs. So in that sense I actually like it better. Far more satisfying.

Anyway fuck that guy who kept obsessing over Niko a while ago, you should give it a go if you're into this kind of mushy stuff.

Speaking of these role-playing games, I am now losing hope in there being a release date for Omori that is sometime in 2017. They did release a demo and OMORI stated that they will be working on one at some point though they for whatever inane reason they decided to change engines from RPG Maker VX Ace to RPG Maker MV, which is something I don't really think one should do in the middle of development but that's probably just my insight into video games as a consumer of them.

Haven't played the game and I could tell that Niko was a cat and the girl he's with is a bird girl. Then again I wrote a 20 page research paper in my senior year English class on anthropomorphism in mythology and popular culture, which I got an A+ on. Then when I wanted to do one on steganography and data encryption my teacher said "Fuck it, A+, you don't have to take the final, just use my computer to play video games I just don't want you downloading any weird shit, someone has been using my computer to look up Pregnant Poppers again and I don't want to lose my job." Did the same thing when in my junior year algebra class the same guy - he taught several classes at that school - had the bright idea to let us play Craps with our grades and I won I think it was 50 times in a row, albeit without the bit about another student looking up Pregnant Poppers. SOMA is shit, though. It takes what little gameplay Amnesia had and guts it, replaces it with the sort of pseudo-philosophical bullshit you'd expect from a stoned high school kid, and plays out the hide-and-get-spooked thing way too much, especially considering the whole concept has been done to death.

What's even more grating about it is the fact that there's so many environmental hazards that look purpose-built, with switches that activate them and everything, to kite monsters into. I remember locking a monster with no eyes and no hands into a closet and sauntering off to do a puzzle, only to have the handless, blind wonder find a button, press it, and resume its patrol route.

If SOMA had given me the option to indirectly fight the enemies by laying traps or kiting them into hazards, it would have been among my favorite games, and it would have certainly shaken up a stale-ass formula. As it is, it's just more of the same hide-and-seek nonsense that stopped being interesting after Outlast 1 went as far as you could logically go with it

Had a nasty-ass situation at my Rimworld colony just now purely of my own making. I got a message of an escape pod and sent Emily to check it out. It was at an undiscovered edge of a map so I sent her approximately to where it was just as the night was starting to fall. Unlucky for me this led her to path straight into a giant spider nest, where she set off webs and angered some spiders. I sent my other colonists to help her but she got wounded and ended up cocooned. I had to fight a couple spiders and ended up with another of my colonists (Sayo) cocooned as well. I managed to kill any attacking spiders, but the problem was that the two colonists were badly wounded and we were far away from the base with a thick forest inbetween, and the game had just autosaved.

Now, the problem here was that:
1) if I tried hauling Emily to base, she bled out.
2) if I tried to do some emergency healing on the spot to deal with the worst of it, she died to hypothermia on the way when carried back to base.

Now, while I normally don't savescum and I play on permadeath to enforce that, I gotta admit I did it here like a bitch in order to save Emily, because I had just lost another colonist in a raid earlier due to unlucky shot killing her dead on the spot, so I wasn't about to let another one go like this. It took several tries, but eventually a combination of just enough emergency healing combined with my most healthy colonist doing the rescue haul back to base managed to save her.

And in the end, I didn't even see where the escape pod had landed. Perhaps the survivor got caught in a web and ended up in a cocoon as well.

And eh, I could see it at least working as well as Netflix to some degree, but the problem is that you never hear about the thousands of really shitty movies/shows on Netflix, just the couple of really good ones (usually ones they produce themselves), so I'm not sure if it's actually gonna get people as much exposure as they think.
