The only reason I like that this movie exists is that it establishes what ME combat looks like "in-universe" outside of the game engine (the books are the only other source and they're pretty sparse on details in their combat scenes). The answer: pretty much like it does in gameplay except damage and deformation from the guns are actually modeled consistently, unlike in the game where limitations means that basic battle rifles that pierces a half-meter of concrete, explodes power-armored heads, and blows basket-ball sized holes in power-armored bodies, also does nothing if it strikes a normal human's arm but cause a blood spurt that leaves no visible wound channel.

Sorry, that probably came off a little more harsh than I intended. I just don't like when people try to pretend that what happens in the game has no relation to the game itself. Especially since A. this is rarely actually thought to be the case by the developers on most genres, rather being the excuse of a fan who wants to ignore a plot hole or win a VS debate, and B. Mass Effect as a series has always been pretty decent about making the game you play basically identical to what's "really" happening in-universe. I like when games do this. It's half of why I love Crysis so much.

Anyway, yes, Shepard is basically a brick and I wouldn't model any prospective protagonist on him. But perhaps Ryder was too far in the other direction. It's not like you can do much roleplaying with either anyway.

Just saw the new Spider-Man with a friend. It was entertaining. However, I didn't understand why they'd go with a black (or half-black in the movie) love interest (who's really hot), while also making MJ an average-at-most black girl, who's entire character is literally just snarky comments. And we're talking 90% of her one liners, which is which is her every line.
I don't like it.
