In the final chapter of Ao it's easier to see what they might have intended with Cold Steel before Vita limitations or time limitations or whatever development problems they encountered forced them to change course. Touring the country to find your friends with the Courageous could've all been a final chapter thing, just like in Ao. It's a shame.

I won't say it's story-heavy, but it definitely has more than Ys. You can blitz through the game pretty fast if you ignore the NPC.
The dungeons are pretty short. So far they only took 5-10 minutes to clear. Doing a no damage run while going for record time is pretty challenging though, it's encouraged by the game too.

Not that guy but a dub is more liable to have less committed or less well directed performances on balance. It just has an extra layer of potential pitfalls, places to go wrong.

But it can have parity with the original, or surpass it. Digital Devil Saga comes to mind. For Baccano and Mad Bull 34 the dub's good while also far more appropriate to setting. Metal Gear series I hesitate to cite, as I have no familiarity with the Japanese, but the English holds up.

Just beat Elvaron and both Krell fights in Celceta; why could't the previous bosses have been as good as them? I really didn't like the Angoraboras and Glucarius fights with having to wait and dodge for a certain attack to be able to stun them and then just whack them for a few seconds before going back to just dodging.

I think it's not so much female protags as dual protagonists that I like so much. When I played 3rd with Kevin and Ries, I realized that what made Estelle and Joshua so memorable was that they were more or less both the main character. They constantly had a really interesting character dynamic. Then in 3rd we have Kevin and Ries, two completely different people from Estelle and Joshua. But they're also in a pair with a constant dynamic that makes it really easy to get attached to them. I think a lot of games would benefit from dual protagonists.

On that note, do you guys think Crow would have been a lot better if he'd been a dual protagonist to Rean in Sen 1? Or maybe depending on the field study your dual protagonist would be Emma

I was thinking Emma because it would create a nice foil of her with Rean and Crow with Vita. Alisa feels like she's too generic of a heroine honestly.
