I popped in for a few minutes yesterday when they were doing the Pokemon Puzzle League speedrun. Watching him pull off 12+ chains was pretty cool the first few times but then I got bored as it became apparent that winning matches quickly in that game is reliant on the AI fucking up, otherwise they'd drag each match on for several minutes.

I guess this is why I've been told that Panel de Pon is a horrible game to watch at high levels.

It's funny you should mention Adam_AK because I immediately thought of him as one of only a handful of tolerable speedrunners. It's hard to find American speedrunners that aren't super-autistic or otherwise annoying. Americans tend to speak in a way that's very aggravating. It just has to do with the accent, it's so nasal. Southern ones are less annoying though.

British accents are much nicer, and it helps a lot that Adam_AK is just a balanced human being in general.

I'm not sure if it can be called the definitive version, since it's never been ported to anything. It would seem that Taito doesn't look at it as the definitive version. Or maybe they just didn't care to port Ver. 2 or just both.

If you wish, someone try to convince me that Windia is not generally the worst shot type to use in vanilla Deathsmiles. Or at least suggest to me redeeming qualities about using her compared to the others.

Between her subpar damage output compared to Casper and Rosa, and her utter inferiority in scoring potential compared to Rosa and Follett, I don't see what is supposed to make Windia enticing to use (from an objective standpoint, of course). Granted, Rosa is generally superior to every character for survival and likewise for Follett in terms of scoring potential, but Casper at least has the convenient niche of being able to kill things faster than anyone else with proper usage, as well as boasting the fastest movement speed in the game. In terms of survival play, using Windia basically seems to me like just using a worse Rosa.

The only unique positives I can think of for Windia are her more balanced movement speeds compared to Casper and Rosa. Casper's unfocused speed is the fastest in the game, while her focused speed is the slowest in the game, which can be difficult to get used to using. Meanwhile Rosa has the exact same (relatively slow) speed for both, which can debatably make dodging a bit more difficult in certain scenarios.

As it stands in my book, Windia seems to have been the intended balanced/all-around/beginner's choice character (in contrast to Casper's high-risk high-reward playstyle)... however they then went and made Rosa superior in those regards and more, leaving Windia to have almost no attractive qualities of her own when compared to any other shot type.

Short answer: Some bum saved his life, so to repay the man Lei agreed to dress up in gothic lolita and pretend to be one of the angels, while the bum reaps the profits for providing protection to the town or something like that.

Long answer: Lei came to Gilverado after nearly freezing to death, and there a bum named Goldberg found and saved him. After that, Goldberg devised a plan to have Lei pose as one of Dior's angels, using his powers to fight against the demons, while Goldberg pretends to be Dior himself. I'm not sure how exactly this plan is supposed to work or what exactly the profit is, but that's what they do for some short period of time. At the beginning of Deathsmiles 2, Lei sees his sister Supe flying with the real angels, at which point he pursues and joins up with them. In the end, I believe Lei is adopted into the Dior family as with all the other angels, however it seems that he continues to wear the gothic lolita outfit for some reason even after that. At this point, anyone's guess is as good as mine on his reason for that.

As an additional fun tidbit, I am about... 82% sure that Casper never realizes the fact that Lei is a boy. But since I don't actually know Japanese, I could still be wrong.

Switched from Messerschmidt to P-51 now.
The first loop is definitely harder with this plane, but I think the 2nd loop is actually easier, because you can erase bullets with its charge shot which is very good for defense, plus its bomb is very powerful.

To be fair, Reimu and Marisa do have incredibly memorable and balanced designs. Some of the other 2hus too.
Of course the designs are made to look even better by people with actual artistic talent. But the colours and basic designs are good.
