Tried the machine colosseum with the double axe small biped, it was pretty fun but they are raping my ass in the higher arenas. The 100% melee units can't do anything against the alien akbar machines, can they? What are other fun units that can be used?

So the best of the new gear, purely from a stat point of view, is the 攻撃 shoes, 楽器 dress, and the 祈祷 headwear and gloves.

Is there a recommend list of S weapons to evolve? My grid isn't going to get better until a new gacha appears with something I want so the only way to up my stats will be to evolve my shitty S weapons which are taking up half of my grid currently but I'm not sure if some are a waste of time or not.

So in my case should I just ignore the S and prioritise getting my SS to L? I'm not sure which gives a bigger boost. Overall my grid is rather shitty so I'm just wanting to improve whatever way I can without having to dump my remaining gems until a more interesting gacha appears. SS to L is a bigger jump, but you're limited by the upgrade items occasionally. A key thing to remember is that your first lot of EXP items is MUCH cheaper than the rest, in the case of L ranks it's a quarter of the cost, so you want to frontload your XP as much as possible after evolving it, with a minimum of 20 A ranks, ideally 20 S ranks.

A maxed out S is worth 2k, A non-natural SS around 2.5k, a natural SS is 3k, and an L hits 3.5k at the same level, with another 20+ levels to max out around 4.5k. The only S ranks really worth it are ones with lots of limit breaks, and even then you'll eventually replace everything with natural SS weapons anyway. The gain from S > SS is only around 500-700 points, more if you've got them limit broken.

The first game seemed to imply that breaking the pact would kill both of them (but then went ahead and allowed them to break the pact anyway)

The second ran on the theory that the pact either couldn't be broken, or there was no reason to. MAYBE the idea was that you could break the pact, but you wouldn't regain whatever you gave up, so there wasn't any point to doing so, ie Hanch would still be a creepy bitch, now without a sick underwater horse.

9S explains a bunch of things about the surface to 2B that she (at least appears to be) ignorant about, as if she's just recently been assigned to him. This could be explained away as memory wipe, or just a convenient way to explain things to the player, but unless there's hidden lore I don't have it doesn't seem like she's pretending to not know any of it.
At the same time, their relationship appears to develop WAY too quickly in the opening; with her being unusually concerned for his well being as he lay half dead atop Engels even though she just met him not 5 minutes prior.

Exactly the story is pretty simple at it's nuts and bolts. Its confusing because it doesn't tell you hardly anything until you know what to look for.

The design, the music, and the tone that they captured is what brought my enjoyment of the game.

The story is not as open for interpretation as most people tend to think. You need to do is listen to all dialogs, do almost all side quests, read intel docs and weapon stories and also pay attention to character reactions on the screen.
Most story related conclusions players could do only after learning the final twist about 2E tho as it is supposed to be a thing you should use to analyze past events.
This approach is very different from most modern games. It makes the story very confusing at first but also awards players with a ton of satisfaction after spending time thinking about the game they just played.

Token farming was fucking boring, it just devolved into buying everything from the store aside from the bonus nightmares. The commemoration event was pretty good though, because you could very easily get all the rewards.

1% farming is only for spergs, anyway. The bonus from an ideal set adds up to maybe 20 more score and a minor skill buff, and by the time stuff like that matters, there will be a natural SS armor set.

You get like 1/10th of the power in your sub slots. A full sub set of SS gear would cost you an insane amount of resources, and would MAYBE get you 500 points. In no world would that be a sane idea, unless you're a complete whale and you've already maxed out a full set of L+4 weapons.

You're talking about 10 times the resources for the same impact.

By all means, keep your old S set, and when the eventual SS set comes out, put your current SS set in there too. But there's no possible reason to grind for both upgrade and XP mats you don't need.

If you absolutely have to mess with sub sets because you've got everything else maxed out, then invest that time into SS weapons you can't equip.
