I like how if you know your defensive options well enough there is almost no real situations where you are forced to guess in Tekken. Like for example if a Paul player "mixes up" between Phoenix Smasher and demo man you can just backdash out of the range of the first hit of demo man and you get a punish. If a character has a mid/low string mixup chances are you can sidestep it or parry depending on your character. Even if your opponent has a character like Dragonov that is bullying you with a good low like d+2, it usually has little to no frame advantage on hit. In Dragonov's case it is 0 on hit so you aren't locked away from your offense and you still have plenty of options. There is a lot to learn in Tekken, but if you do learn it you'll find that there are very few "50/50" (if any) guessing situations that will make your life hard.

It is an honest fighting game.

if you block something, and your first act out of blockstun is to sidestep and your opponent's first action is to press a linear button, you will step that button. if the opponent delays their button press even slightly, you will get hit or forced to block. sidestepping is generally pretty precise and requires a read. doing it in neutral is not a horrible idea, but you always want to cancel into backdash in that case. if you're particularly confident, you can sidewalk to get a cleaner evasion and maybe a back turned combo.

I stopped playing ranked matched until the fix matchmaking and/or their ranking system.

Ranking system should be:

>Beat someone lower ranked than you = +0.5

At the very least. Beating several people way higher ranked than you and having it not even matter then de-ranking for losing to someone the same rank as you is asinine. You can sort of deal with that by limiting matches to people that are within 2 levels of you, but that just makes matchmaking take forever.

Back when I was 3rd Dan, I beat 5 experts and grandmasters in a row, lost to 6th, then beat the 7th. I got no promotion. Then I lost twice to one Paul who was the same rank as me and instantly demoted. I definitely see a problem there.

I switched matchmaking to only match me agaist similarly ranked players after that, but it took forever to get matches as a result. This is also a problem.

Any tips on doing this combo? The teleport slash in the b+2,4,2 always drops. I figured it was a spacing issue so I tried to get closer by dashing after the ff+3 but that causes the b+2 to whiff.

Are pc servers being ass today? Literally every runback results in a communication error mid match.

I'd like to think it was them rage quitting, but the opponent is always mid move as well
