Then a great place to farm gems until you get to the deepest chalices is at the Winter Lanterns next to Orphan of Kos' fog door at the end of the DLC. There are two down the hallway from the elevator. They can drop ~21-22% physical droplet gems, which can fit into any slot. it might take a little bit to get some usable ones but it'll be well worth it.

You should look for "tempering" ones that increase physical attack around 20-22%. These will increase both the blood damage on bloodletter's tricked form and the regular physical damage on untricked. The main thing you want to look for, actually, are the secondary effects. Attack down and HP depletes are trash and you should just delete those. Anything else is usable, though be aware that durability down will make your weapons break faster and make sure you aren't stacking beast or kin down when you're facing a beast or kin boss, though that's pretty situational. They're usually completely fine to use.
