Dasein means something like "being-there" having presence, consciousness. Being alive. But to be truly alive means to be-towards-death. Many people cannot handle the knowledge of death and so they construct, "the everyday". Patterns of existence that distance death from their minds. Habits that obscure the truth.

This is done out of fear that confronting the inevitability of death will lead to a state of despair which will cause Dasein (your own being) to end. Society thus creates all these little rituals and makes vague and empty phrases, to cope with death and to establish a false normal. The false normal comforts people and keeps things going, it is something we should appreciate, since many do not have the fortitude to actually confront their own death and understand there own relationship to death.

I imagine having read through a good amount of philosophy will add to your appreciation of SubaHibi, but would not be necessary to enjoy it. You should still read Heidegger and Wittgenstein because they are good perspectives to have.

For the most part, yes.
My biggest gripe would be Michelle's curse. Everything else was realistic enough for me to believe that these stories could have happened but a cute girl getting turned into a Ken doll is pushing it too far. There needs to be SOMETHING down there, just for the sake of emptying the bladder.
Sometimes the translations were kinda iffy LE GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASP is the biggest offender.
Some parts were dragging on and too much was retold from a different perspective.
All in all it's pretty good and a really nice love story with some pretty good twists (during Door 1 to 3 especially) and the music is just great.

Michelle/Michel is born as a hermaphrodite. You can check into what the genitals would look like, by image searching hermaphrodite genitalia. The whole reason for the confusion is that the feminine traits show first and most strongly, until puberty, when the male traits emerge. It is what actually happens as testosterone gets produced. But, biologically, Michel is sterile and has at best a vagina with a sort of dangly penis-like-clit on top of it.

I think Le Gasp was a great translation given Georges flippant personality and his own identity. You have to keep in mind, this is a case where the Japanese tendency to communicate via onomatopoeic sounds does not have a strict western equivalent. Similar to "JIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" for *STAAAAARES* etc.

I agree that a lot of parts dragged on, however, my favorite parts were door 4-8, I loved it. Be sure to check out the behind the curtains scene. Also, the OST is great, any tracks in particular you liked?

Not much. I usually do 20-40 minutes a day of repetitions. I'm slow, as I have other priorities. I do forget them sometimes, but by the 4 month mark of repeating one I find that it starts to stick if it's used even a tiny bit. I'm at a point where I try to read a bit of VNs with a text hooker. It's nice because it's not a boring thing to do and the only way to actually learn something is exposure to it. So I see vocab and kanji I know while reading and either it's obvious to me what it says or the text hooker helps me confirm. I think that the only true of way getting that shit permanently is to start reading whatever you can.

Try Akeiro, it hooks up easily to Chiitrans lite, and so far I've been able to understand a good chunk of what I've read.

Great choices. Personally, I love the OP, Giselle, and Time Marches On the most, but there are so many other good ones. I think it has the most uniquely charming OST of any VN I have played.

While I love so many others for different reasons, this OST was one that is so memorable for all of its vocals. Really cool stuff.

The art actually repelled me from this game for so long, I regret that, but I feel that the decision to make the art "different" than the normal fit with the theme of the work.
