I achieved the "beat the game in under 60 minutes" speedrun achievement in Mighty No9.

But what I don't understand is that after I skipped the credits, got back to the main menu, and exited to title (all as quickly as possible), the save screen said my ingame time was 1hour 4minutes.

I wonder how the speedrun achievement works exactly, where did it omit the time so that it still counted as under an hour? Because according to the play clock, it took me over an hour to beat the game.

My run wasn't perfect, I died 2 or 3 times and I didn't pull off the trick that makes it so you only have to chase Countershade through the capital building 3 times instead of 4. I actually don't even know how to do that, I just accidentally did it once.

I think Mighty No9 is a fun game.

Also for the wily capsule, unlike for MM, I used the weakness. In a no shop play those 2 are definitely harder as Bass if you ask me.

There is one I know where it is but I could never get (at the end of Ground Man stage where the small drills eat up the ground and you have to use r search somehow), then 2 more in a couple of stages that the game tells me they are there but I'm cluesless where, and then 3 more which there is no clue about their location.

Which battle network game is the best, or at least good and not too expensive? Also can you play them out of order and still grasp the plot? I know the general gist of the battle network games, the characters and plot but nothing specific about each of the 6 games.
Also what is with the controversy with battle network 4? Everywhere I've been seems to hate that game in particular and tends to rank it only above the first game which from what I gather is only worth playing for the introduction to the things that are improved and reoccur in the later games.

Lightning Bolt makes the Ground Man CD easier, but it's still quite hard to get. Grabbing it is a matter of skill and luck.
There are also a couple of CDs in the intro stage which Roll doesn't mention for some reason.

I don't know how much each game would cost for their GBA originals but the WiiU ports have a flat price across the series. Still, I emulated the lot.

If you care about the story at all, just play them in order. BN1 really isn't that bad, just bare-bones with features and it had a couple of really annoying dungeons.
BN4 is hated because 3 was really good with its gameplay and story, then 4 came along and took out several good functions, introduced a ridiculous villain and plot and the format of the game (you have to clear it 3 times to 100% it) makes it a pain to play.

I know I'd never attempt a No Shop run playthrough myself (though I did some way back when the game first hit and I knew no Japanese to even know what was what)

They lock you out of your only almost E-Tank with Megaman in the form of Eddie, and since No Shop means you can't equip the things you're nearly required, in a sense, like damage absorbers and item enhancers, it really just isn't fun times overall.

In MM8 meanwhile I only used the shop to grab the Energy Balancer, and you surely can finish the game without that (without ripping your hair in frustration)

I liked MM8's difficulty just fine personally. Everyone kept saying it was too easy, so I thought it was basically going to be like X4 but it's much harder than it.

I still think there was a very nice progression curve in difficulty going all the way up to 8, MM&B was trying to do its own thing to be harder as an exception, but I'll take the challenge from MM3~8 anytime over 9 and 10 where it just feels you're always being punished for wanting to use what the series had evolved to no matter what you do (Rock's denied those and Proto Man bleeds like a hemophilic if you even entertain using them)

I was honestly surprised with how fun Gunvolt was. It very obviously borrows from Mega Man/MMZ with its tight platforming, stage gimmicks and the themed bosses with a boss rush at the end, but it's just so unique on its own. Interesting story concepts, cool designs and a really, really weird yet unique gameplay mechanic for an action platformer which is actually a lot of fucking fun and incredibly satisfying. Honestly my only major issue is that the music isn't very memorable.

Does anyone else have problems with some aspects of the story though? There's very obviously some corrupt people in the story in the form of Copen and Nova, but many of GV's actions (not all of them of course) seem to be driven by his care for Joule. The thing is as a player I never really feel a reason to give a shit about her outside of her being a cute and vulnerable girl, and even when Nova is obviously using her for his corrupt ideals GV is still shouting about "GIVE ME MY WAIFU BACK". I don't even want to get into the poorly foreshadowed Asimov betrayal twist.

The special attack cut-in portraits are hype as fuck though, it's such a superficial element but I love it.

Its pretty much just Inti Creates continuing after ZX2 so it borrows a ton, yeah. The story is kinda weird but I liked it as a dumb anime and I enjoyed it. Special attack portraits are indeed the best.

Play the second, its just as good, if not better. The Gunvolt side is probably just so slightly weaker IMO, but the Copen side is absolutely fucking amazing. Probably my favourite secondary character in any video game ever.

It definitely would have been interesting to see how the levels would have been designed with all the different movement options and upgrades you would have obtained, I don't think it would have been necessarily better but definitely fun. Like they could say have a platform heavy stage based around air dashing and wall jumping with a robot master who's attacks can only be dodged in a similar way.
Or levels could be designed like some of the wily fortress stages from classic mega man requiring the use of various abilities X had in the previous game in order to progress past obstacles.
Speed runs of a game like that would be crazy to watch.

Yeah, this is what I mean. It's just disappointing that in a lot of MegaMan games it will be piss easy at the start and middle and then the end stages are baller because they know you have everything by then.
In fact, ZX would have been perfect for this to some degree because each game has 2 intro stages. After that, they could have thrown you right into some tougher situations than what they actually present you with. As much as I love the games, only the very last stage in ZXA felt like a true MegaMan level to me in those games.

I really disliked how it looked visually and hated the level design. I liked a lot of the ideas, but felt the execution was really sloppy. Still the only X I've yet to beat, so maybe I should get around to it and try to force myself again.
