In any case given BotW's inclusion of both Rito and Zora I'm inclined to go back to thinking the Zelda games have no real relation to each other unless directly stated and otherwise just share themes/races/Hyrule/etc. Fuck the Hyrule Historia.

Really, Link doesn't choose anyone but who you want him to. It might seem like he's more his own character in this game, but that's not really the case. He has amnesia specifically so he can still act as a player avatar. People may call him "Link", but that was merely his identity in his past life. You experience his memory recollections the same as he does, so that your interpretations of those memories are also his. You want to settle down with Zelda? That's what your Link does. You decide Mipha was the only one for your heart? That's what your Link decides. You like dressing as a girl? Link likes dressing as a girl. Freedom of choice is a very core design principle in this game, and they made sure Link was a part of that.

You can evade the lasers by running to the side, they have always a small downtime.
You can also parry it, there's no definitive way for that, just practice your timing. It depends on the distance to it.

Their spin laser has a fixed range, so just be standing outside the circle.
The final blasts are intentionally not manageable, you are supposed to berserker them to finish them off before they have a chance to charge.

Defunct guardians are scattered about the ToT and the Forgotten Temple, both of which could have potentially facilitated time travel for both the heroes and the villains. The Great Plateau is designed as a microcosm of Hyrule as a whole; considering that, the Temple of Time represents Hyrule Castle. It stands at the intersection of the four shrines that you must go out and seek, the same way Hyrule Castle is at the intersection of the four Divine Beasts. It's a convenient landmark you can navigate by at a distance, like the castle, and your Great Plateau adventure ends at the peak of the Temple of Time, mirroring the ascent to the Sanctum of Hyrule Castle.

It's also a familiar sight in the Zelda series, so seeing it in ruins sets the tone for the rest of the game. I only wish the other ruins had as much effort put into them as the Temple of Time.

There's actually a smidgen of dialogue with the leaders, as you mentioned. As I recall they just acknowledge the Master Sword. I believe there's also some extra dialogue for doing all the beasts and the Master Sword before visiting Impa.

None of it is very impressive, though. If you want more interesting stuff, try entering Zora's Domain from the north without ever encountering Sidon.

Nah, Fi is gone forever. She was only strong enough to make an avatar because the Master Sword was new and Hylia had only just recently become mortal.

After tens of thousands of years she gets maybe a few months with the Hero of time then it's back to loneliness, isolation and weakened power. She should have gone completely insane after the first few iterations, a Yandere psycho obsessed with Link and killing. Maybe later on in her existence as a sapient being the Master Sword giggled whenever Link killed a monster. Maybe she grew cold and begged Link to cover her in warm blood? No doubt Link would have been aware of her deepening madness, fearing to even touch the blade that whispered dreadful things.

Fi would then taunt the boy, reminding him that he needed her to vanquish the Darkness, that he could not abandon her lest he doom the entire world. She would call him selfish and petty. She would mock his lack of courage, his fear to do what was necessary. When Link eventually gave in, she would tell him how much she hated defeating Ganon. That every time they banished the Darkness it was ironically Fi who would spend the next millennia steeped in it. Her role so crucial, yet her reward so horrible. Each iteration more terrible than the last.

Eventually a Chosen Hero would realize how far she had fallen and seek the wisdom of Zelda. Through her connection with Hylia, she might even peer into the mind of Fi and experience her anguish. Taking pity on the poor spirit she might even devise a plan to help her. To give her a home and some friends. Not a place of purity, she was far too gone for that. She had bathed in an ocean of blood, seen more death than any but the Gods, turned cruel in miserable service to the greater good. The world Zelda would wish for Fi would instead be a mixed world. Not a world of Light, like the Triforce's realm. Nor would it be a world of Darkness, like Ganon's. This would be a world of Twilight, balanced between.

Hero's Path is absolute gold.

Found the Korok Mask, at the beginning of the lost woods proceed like normal until you get to the two torches, then head south (map-wise, the direction where the embers are being blown toward by the torches) and you'll eventually run into the tree that holds the chest. Use the shiekah sensor with a treasure chest if you need to.

Guys I think these trials might have some basis in world mythology. Besides the generic "decent into the afterlife" type thing, in floor 11 when you ride the raft to the tower with the enemies on it, it's definitely either a reference to the river Styx from Greek mythology or the ride to the valley of the dead in Egyptian mythology. Right down to the Bokoblins firing flaming arrows at you, I swear that's word for word how it happened in one of those stories. Then, you get to the big ass dome underground, and along the edges are visuals describing the sacred beasts and various other facets of Hyrule, Holy shit the implied lore here is so fucking good I've still only done the first set of trials so I'll definitely keep an eye out for anything else I see later

Starting off Hard Mode the right way

They fixed these small bugs that were bothering me that started with April patch I think. Camera rune didn't stay at the last zoom you used it at and sound effect got cut short when exiting the camera rune.
