Would be cool if you showed your math.

Seems like focusing planets for research is better for me with my modifiers.
While minerals is slightly worse.
Going for tiles with minerals have the problem with sectors though where you make a multiplicative 25% loss.

Planet focused minerals would have the additional benefit of making more use out of processing plants, they're only worth it if you produce enough so I discounted them.

This was just for tile yields of 1.
I probably should be more careful of putting mines on research tiles with 2 yields though.

Yes. They get a lot more out of the+% damage boosts, and have good buffer Health to survive while they murder the enemy. Two hunters at half health is one Hunter. One battle ship at half health is still one battleship.
>>
>>181066281
They are better, but usually problem with them is that unupgraded carrier is less efficient (cost/benefit) than upgraded hunter. Thus you need upgraded carriers to justify their use if you are playing military heavy game, and for that you need T3 resources, and for that you need T5 tech.

I think they really fucked up by moving T3 resources to T5 from T4, as it is in EL.
>>
When do you usually sector planets? I haven't played since early Stellaris when sector AI fucked up everything building all the shitty buildings before those were streamlined, so I'm pretty leery now of sectoring especially with the massive planet limit now.

Is it a good strategy to fully develop the planets yourself before offloading to make some planet limit room or can the AI safely handle them now?

>>
>>181066970
>Is it a good strategy to fully develop the planets yourself before offloading to make some planet limit room
I believe it is suboptimal, but it works for me on standard difficulty.

I have a core limit of 16 now with repeatable techs. I keep mineral and energy worlds among my core to avoid the 25% loss of resources.
My research sector is so huge now that I could probably add an energy world to it just to power it. Instead of manually adding energy credits to that sector.
>>
>>181067562
I didn't know anyone was arguing the Vodyani are balanced, but if you were taking someone talking about having rough early games as the Vodyani then here I am.
I probably just suck but it feels pretty hard to get started.
Don't feel like playing them again until that one ability gets nerfed though.

Having a stockpile going beforehand should help you with that, I'd say.
Unless you're trying to defend 10 or so systems at which point I don't know how I can help you do that outside of yeah just generic ships.
Now if you want to improve the quality of your generic ships, I'd recommend exploring ruins early on.
The loot you get from them is actually pretty good, and the weapons that you get aren't too far off from their Titanium and Hyperium counterparts.
Now don't get me wrong, the strategic weapons are still better, but the ruins weapons aren't AS bad as the basic ones you get from tech.

They changed a lot, pay/rent is now 1-4 "dollar" icons instead of setting it manually, game now takes place in different "eras", from early colonial era, to 19th century, to early 20th, to 50's to modern.

I didn't like how much it changed.

Along with a way to continue to improve defensive stations so they're a challenge to fight. I'd like to make my own enigmatic fortress.

It'll be 3 sections of a ringworld. Fourth section will probably be kill.

I once had a materialist FE that had 3 ringworlds. One that was up and running but filled with "ancient ruins" tile blockers, a second which had 3 broken sections and 1 working section (again, tile blockers), and a 3rd completely destroyed ringworld.

If I cared enough after defeating that empire to have kept playing I would've been able to repair them which would have been 30 tiles.

Funnily enough though, the Master of Nature ascension perk lets you clean up Ancient Ruins for free. So after a few minutes I still had 125 tiles of perfect habitability, sprinkled liberally with OP Fallen Empire buildings.

Top right, under "Budget", the dollar icons determine the pay/cost of a job/service. Instead of paying workers 20$ you click on the 3rd or 4th dollar icon to give them "wealthy" pay.

Otherwise, Tropico 5 was fine. I just really hated that change.

I used to not care about cheevos either, but in Stellaris' case there's no other way of obtaining a feeling of accomplishment from the game. Since every playthrough feels identical and the RP is so shallow, I have little alternate recourse.

>Would love a version of the interdictor that prevented jumping to anything but the interdictor system.
It would be overpowered against the AI.
I'd just build a small station with just that thing in every uninhabitated system in my empire to force enemy fleets into the anti-webway
>>
>>181109875
This is my main issue with defensive structures. They are basically useless at defending key areas. They provide nice buffs and debuffs to fleets in the system, which can be very useful defensively if you want to take on a much larger force under more favorable conditions, but Stellaris needs defensive options like SoSE has, where you can make systems that require a massive and very specifically designed fleet to even have a chance of breaking through.

That's what happens when you only sell a game for like...$40. You need a way to keep leeching money off it because programmers are really expensive.

I think the price point for these 4x games is way too low. The complex mechanics take a lot of hours of testing or theorycraft, which is done by programmers and not artists, so even though things don't look as pretty they are still very expensive.

The "best" ES fleet is usually composed of hunters and defenders. The hunter gets medium sized weapons, and weapon support mods to make them hit harder. The defender can carry support modules like "fleet shield" and "fleet move" without paying extra. Carriers usually don't enter the game until super super late and aren't seen too often.

General tips: Shooting between lanes is always at long range.

each lane starts the battle at the furthest that you and the enemy select, then move 1 step closer to the closest that you have selected.

If you choose:
>long
>medium
>Short

and they chose
>short
>long
>short

Then the ranges of the battle will be:
>long, medium, short
>long, medium, medium
>short, short short

In terms of weapons: Long missiles are really good, but if they stack kinetics then you fucked.
Long lasers are good but lose to long missiles
Long kinetics lose to lasers, but win against missiles
Short beams could do double the damage they do now and would still be useless.

Support modules: Fleet move is important, fleet repair after each phase is OP with bigger ships, and fleet shields is great because you can then just equip armor defense modules.

My favorite load-out:
Hunter: Long lasers, kinetic armor, +% damage support
Defender: long kinetic, kinetic armor, (+fleet move, + fleet repair, + fleet shield) support.

2 hunters and 4 defenders is 10 fleet capacity, which is usually all I need until super late game.

Also: Always ditch infantry and use tanks a soon as possible. Once an enemy gets planes then go for 2/3 tanks and 1/3rd infantry.
>>
>>181114259
>>181136248
PS: I often stack my forces in the middle lane only. the enemy gets some moral bonuses, but you focus fire better, the fleet shields work better, and you are always at long range to anyone not in the middle lane.
>>
>>181136369
So an enemy ship in a different lane with stacked beams is useless for the entire battle even when they would have closed the distance?
>>
>there are people who bought stellaris
>there are people who bought the dlcs
>>
>>181136494
pretty much; using full beams is a complete mistake

at most you should use like one or two on ships to punish someone who goes for constant close-range kinetics

Been playing EL a bit since i bought it yesterday, should I split my starting units at the beginning to explore as much as I can?
>>
>>181137412
depends on your faction; usually you will definitely want to, though cultists are a large exception; the benefits of more efficient exploration are outweighed by the risks of encountering a rival empire while you're still vulnerable
also, broken lords could use the extra dust that splitting your units into separate armies would eat up; it also makes beating up villages easier, which is a plus
>>
>>181136797
Beams existing are a mistake. They should not be close range only.
>>
>>181138473
they should be reverse-missiles as far as effective range goes, at least being useable in medium range would mean that they can at least fire into adjacent flotillas after they clear up their own lane
>>
>>181138659
>medium range would mean that they can at least fire into adjacent flotillas after they clear up their own lane

>keep your hero in the army and search ruins until he hits level 2, then stick him in the capitol and never let him leave; you should be levelling up his FIDS skills and aiming for the "city ignores winter's effects" trait at the top of the common tree
>always parley with minor factions, if you get a really shitty quest out of them bribe them; burning the village down is a last resort, since it doubles the influence cost for converting them
>if you see another faction's borders with your first scouting preachers, WALK AWAY. the last thing you want is for another faction to know you exist while you're vulnerable
>build up a home army as soon as you can to guarantee your safety; fanatics are pretty much just a placeholder frontline if you don't have enough good beefy minor faction units, preachers should be given magewands and paired up with units that have all around high stats, and nameless guard are your DPS core
>assimilation bonuses are IMPORTANT! the three you want most of all are kazanji (+% influence), erycis (+movement speed), and tetikes (+vision range)
>INFLUENCE PRODUCTION IS IMPORTANT! the rate at which you can expand to grab villages, providing you with armies to defend yourself and strike out against rivals, is entirely reliant on your influence production
>RESOURCE TECHS ARE IMPORTANT! your converted villages will leech resources from their home regions, but only if you have the relevant techs for it! this is how cultists get pretty much all of their resources
>if you have shadows, SPYING IS YOUR WORST ENEMY! get security-boosting traits on your hero and research security-boosting buildings; the two worst things that could happen to you outside of a siege are being forced to round up your 60+ population or getting your only city sabotaged!
>if you have tempest, keep in mind that you can convert fomorians, making you one of the better naval factions (still not as good as morgawr, though)
>>
>>181137980
Does building a city district over an anomaly/resource make me lose the bonuses or it doesn't matter?
>>
>>181140674
2/3
i play a lot of cultists; if you've got everything down pat, it might be worth looking at advanced strategies (I.E. fitting an army with camouflage to instantly raze the opponent's capitol while your converted hordes are engaging their main forces, or using privateer tech to raise hell with the enemy)
just never underestimate how vulnerable you are; spies, hidden armies, and sieges can VERY easily be the death of you, so make sure you get your hands on true sight early (jf you're playing against forgotten or real players, because otherwise AI won't use camo)

>how do I deal with defending converted Villages?
building up armies early to guard them, or simply expanding towards villages farther from the prying eyes of other players; the greatest early-game tool the cultists have is hiding themselves
fanatics are there purely for the situation where you don't have any actual villages yet: they're cheap frontliners with well-rounded stats that have good synergy with preachers' +10% to all stats buff
if you're running into the situation where the harassment is too bad, remember that you can garrison troops in villages to defend them
if you're drowning in influence or you're converting villages far from danger, there's no real downside to converting villages past the point where you can reliably protect them
even when you're close to other empires that you're at peace with or that aren't aggressive early on, it could be worthwhile to convert villages near them (though that is always risky)
as a rule, try to keep your villages separated from other factions by at least one region
>>
>>181140772
No; City Centers only take away 1 Food yield from the tile; all owned tiles are considered Exploited. Usually you want to build off the Anomaly to get adjacent benefits though

>Prioritize techs that give +FIDS/Pop and +FIDS/Tile. Later on, early era+FIDS% become more valuable and quick to earn
>After you stick your Hero in the Governor slot, split up your preachers and start spreading wide. Use the garrison troops made after Converting to protect them, or Fanatics if you have early armies
>Buy an Infantry hero with high DPS ASAP, combine them with Nameless Guard and a Preacher for when you need a strike force
>Avoid the navy minor faction unless you start on the ocean or have high Movement to get a fast Conversion quest, Naval combat will wreck you
>Use the Influence side of the Empire plan to get +5 Movement in Era III (you should be getting maxed Plans from Influence, but this is super important
>Sell the automatic garrison troops in Villages that don't need immediate defenses for free cash

>Well used spells can turn the tide of battle.
They can? I remember Dungeon Keeper 2 having a earthquake spell that was almost mandatory to break in, but I don't remember much in WftO. Except maybe the possession spell.
They do depend on the creatures you have. Even the best spells can't save you if your last creature is a level 1 succubus against a level 10 inquisitor.

>>181145073
>it's simply not feasible to have a full 360 defence
I disagree, it's always possible. There are some maps where the possible contacts points are limited to bridge, so it's possible for one player to put on an augron wall. By the way you pierced through it, he'll have his entire dungeon filled with traps.

>It's different
Different doesn't mean better. In Dungeon Keeper and WftO, it basically means that the entire battle is decided on one fight, and unlike other RTS where you can keep building your forces to replace the one falling, in these games, training takes so much time that once the victorious and well-fed armies come knocking on your door, your creatures have just reached level 2.

Unless you immediately build walls as soon as you start to lose the fight, but the game will already be settled, with all the gold being usually mined by now and the possible trasure shrine being in enemy territory.

They are still fun games, but they lack in depth.

Which features of ES2 would you expand on if you had the choice/chance?

I would personally go mainly for its diplomacy and do something about the post turn 70/80 gameplay when it often turns into "Press end turn until you win". For example, the AI figuring out you are about to win soon and starting to do whatever it can to prevent that be it via war or via collaboration to block your trade routes, remove your scientific agreements, and forge their own. Basically - everyone trying to screw the person who is the closest to a win so you always have to be on your toes when the win is near. Some hidden modifiers and AI that can't be bribed so easily would be great, too.

>Which features of ES2 would you expand on if you had the choice/chance?
Even more focus on interactions with the population. Possibly tying in with the inevitable espionage expansion.
>>
>>181145774

I think some of the main flaws are in the win conditions themselves.

I really like the more novel win conditions in Civ and Endless Legend which aren't just based on numbers, but are based on exploiting the weaknesses of enemies in various ways. Culture, Quest, Wonder, Domination, Space Race etc. are all neat conditions that require players to accomplish a somewhat complex goal that has you running around doing various things.

Win conditions in ES2 can often come down to stuff that feels like score, economy, population etc. Unless you're just going for dominance. Making it a lot clearer who's winning, and AI joining together to drag down anyone who starts getting too far ahead of the pack would definitely help but would still feel a little hollow sometimes.
>>
>>181146050
Yeah, I'd like to see espionage and the capability to manipulate the elections of other empires or inspire revolts. For example, if a Vodyani is harassing you during cold war, but you do not want to deal with them by declaring war since you are already on another front, you can push their population towards Industrialism so that they lose their Righteous Fury law.

Another population interaction I'd love to see is losing pops to empires with larger influence since they pack up and migrate there. This would open up some strategies that involve building pop while focusing on influence and not on food. Or if you are playing an empire with comparatively shitty pops you could maintain low influence so that you send them over to take up pop space at your neighbor and manipulate their ideology.
>>
>>181146162
Yes you pretty much know the exact way you are going to win based on the luxuries you find in the first 20 or so turns. There is little room for doing anything creative or making every game feel like an unique story that developed itself. I started disabling the academy quest too since it made everything even more formulaic.
>>
>>181146686
If you want to RP and make up stories in your head, play Stellaris
>>
>>181148284

>if you want something other than score victory, play stellaris

how about play one of the range of other 4x games out there that have more engaging victory conditions than ES/ES2, including the last 4x made by the same fucking company
>>
>>181148567
Yes the last 4x that also has several DLCs expanding the mechanics, which makes it easier for you to make up RP stories.
>>
>>181148284
It is not about an RP story, but rather about the story of your playthrough. Who you fought, what you had to do to defeat them, how you achieved victory in the end, etc. from player perspective, not an imaginary space emperor or whatever it is the game offers you the role of.

With ES2 this metanarrative is rather samey and stale, with every game panning out in a really formulaic way.
>>
>>181148880
It makes for good AAR and Let's Play but terrible game.
>>
>>181148880

Don't mince words. Play stellaris and stop pushing this into every game you see. Endless game are heavily focused on mechanics, and a lot of players like it that way.
>Yes you pretty much know the exact way you are going to win based on the luxuries
This is good you understand, no? This means that world generation has significant impact on gameplay.
>>
>>181149758
The mechanics lead to a particular playthrough that can be memorable and distinct, or samey and boring.I am not sure how you fail to understand that or differentiate it from the story narrative that pans out in the game. A game of chess lacks any narrative elements, but it still has a story based on the actions you and your opponent performed. I am not sure how you are failing to understand this basic concept.

>RP

it's not even RP, what are you even talking about

it's about shallow game mechanics in relation to the game victory scenarios in ES2
>>
>>181149758

Are you really this dense.

A fucking team game of some dumb shooter like overwatch has a 'story', a game of football has a fucking 'story'.

Civ games are NOT geared towards RP particularly more or less than ES games, ES games themselves have an issue with predictability and that's coming from someone who enjoys the mechanics early and mid game. But Civ games STILL manage to create a 'story'.

ES tends to end up very menial and predictable and the game victory conditions themselves are pretty bare bones, the only one that's not essentially score victory being Wonder or Domination.
>>
They just need to bring the EL AI back. ES2 Endless ai is comparable to EL normal honestly. EL AI was hard as fuck
>>
>>181150050
>memorable and distinct, or samey and boring
Arbitrary distinction. Purely arbitrary.
>fail to understand
If you have a point convey it better, but to me it sounds you just don't like it there for it needs changing in your mind.

>>181150073
>it's about shallow game mechanics in relation to the game victory scenarios in ES2
Victory scenarios are fine, conditions on those scenarios need fixing. They balance is all out of whack, with 3 being so laughably easy to achive it undermines ability of a game to fully play out as it were. Adding additional victory scenarios w/o adding additional mechanics would be largely pointless. The only one it lacks compared to EL right now is diplo win, and that one was never fun, just something for Drakken to do so they can feel like they aren't wasting time on diplomacy. The issue right now is that game ends abruptly w/o letting people play out their hand, and that's a balance issue, one that can't be solved by adding some asspulled VCs. The trade routes need a nerf, the science and wonder costs need to be increased 3 fold, possibly more, and so on. You can't solve a systematic issue via just slapping more systems on top of already existing ones.

>>181150272
>Are you really this dense.
Yes, yes more people blaming the listener for their own failure to convey their opinion in enough detail to warrant a discussion.
>ES tends to end up very menial
The hell do you mean by this for example?

The guy that's doing best in the game winning it is not a downside, unless snowballing is out of hand, and that's, again, a balance issue.

It's not brillian or anything, it's army comps are still imperfect, but they are competent, and it plays to it's strenghts more often than not. I haven't played a lot of 4x games, but it always seemed to me that the way to play them was to blob out, then win. Whether you blob out and win on research, or blob out and win on culture, or blob out and win on conquest is basically all the variation you're gonna get.
>>
>>181152295
Not really. You already have cav, and their food bonus is meh.
>>
>>181152664
One of the exes stands for expand, another for exploit, so I fail to see the issue you are having. Some games offer tall options, but it wouldn't be 4x w/o default position being wide.
>>
>>181152664
yep, usually
expanding is creating your own land to blob, while exterminating is taking land to blob.
Blobbing is really half of the x'es.

The question is more when to blob and how to achieve it, unless you're doing a challenge, or you're playing one of the games that nerfs blobbing like the tech penalty in civ5bnw.
Even then blobbing is a long term boost.

I'm not very versed in RC builds, so I'm not sure. Wraiths are always decent because science is always important, plus they are flyers with chain lightning so if you have neighbours who like to go melee they are quite good. Minotaurs, I don't even remember the bonus. Damage maybe? Long story short with them - they are tanky cav, they can be good replacement for your basic cav if you want something more beefy but I'd probably go with wratihs myself.

They're not very intelligent in terms of battle strategy, but EL AI is super agressive and knows how to use its advantages.
For example, my very first serious game as Dosh Lords, I spawned next to Drakken and they immediately rushed me after building up a huge Production economy. Had it not been for a great start and a lot of stalling tactics they'd have wiped out several of my cities in the first 100 turns. That was the fight that taught me to Garrison early.

guaran are nice and beefy and have winter immunity; a nice pair with hurnas, but as roving clans you already have cavalry
wraiths are flying and have chain lightning, both diversifying your roster and offering very strong crowd control for when you fight big melee crowds (cultists, broken lords, necrophages especially)

>Is there any situation in which silics aren't a good option?
You probably play factions that have native archers a lot. Because for all their goodness silics take up an assimilation slot for infantry unit, and that means no archers or flyers. Also sometimes you simply don't have enough strtegic deposits to justify their use vs other bonuses. Or you might have only 1 silics village versus 3-5 of some other beasties.

That being said, they are still great in many situations.

how much of an edge does tech give you in es2? is warfare just who ever can mass the most ships making researching industry improvements more important?
>>
Who are the "Good guys" of ES2? It seems to me like it is the Riftborn and maybe the Unfallen if we assume that the Lost that is leading them is not going to try to make them go nuts for some reason. Every other faction seems to be a varying degree of Asshole with cravers and religious vodyani at the top.
>>
>>181168328
it varies, It can help you, but other techs, especially industry, are of significantly higher priority than weapons
>>
>>181168161
Those two species portraits make it seem less serious.
>>
>>181168328
Its difficult to tell, it could vary. Both are viable strategies - working on tech to make better ships with more advanced shields/weapons/more modules, as well as swarming the enemy with shittier ones before they can get to that stage.

For example the Vodyani get retarded late game because they can start popping out top-tier max upgrade ships at ridiculous rates becuase of the way the FIDIS bonuses for their heroes work. However if you, for example, play as cravers or there are AI cravers near the Vodyani, they could use their early game advantage to remove them from the game before they are even a factor.
>>
>>181168328
>how much of an edge does tech give you in es2?
Industry is god, Science her prophet. While you can outmass your enemy, it will only last you so long, as the other guy said, industry tech is more important than weapon tech, but it's still all tech. So quite a lot of edge. There is also lil something called strategic resources, they can swing battles easily, and you need tech to dig them up and yet another tech to put them to use.

So yeah, endless games do tech/industry balance well, generally speaking.

>>181168416
>Who are the "Good guys" of ES2?
I think everyone's here of their own story, and that's a good approach. You could say unfallen are nice, and yet they are ultimately dogmatic reactionaries obsessed with keeping status quo, you could say that riftborn are nice, but they are ultimately so alien that their very presence is a threat to all living things. Etc.

As to EL giving insight into ES2 races, don't count on it - there is not a single faction that made it from EL into ES2 afaik. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone/something, but while EL gives you insight into ES2 setting, factions themselves - nah.
>>
>>181172245
EL is chock full of lore that should more than satisfy you if you like reading. Just look at the new game world generation text:

At first, from the void, came the shape.
Within that shape, continents rose up from the seas...
...and within those continents, the regions were created.
Then the regions were covered by deserts, forests and grassland...
...and by hills and mountains that rose up to give my face a form.
Clouds drew together, rains fell, and the rivers swelled with water...
...and the lands grew wetter or drier as the rivers carved their way.
From beneath the crust of my skin precious resources thrust up.
Lesser species evolved and ranged across me...
...and as all of these lived and grew and died they left their traces.
Lastly, for my children, I sowed places where my bounties could be easily reaped.
Bounties in minerals, in magics, in the wealth of the soil.
And when all was ready, and I saw that the world was rich...
...only then were my children seeded upon it.
And then nothing remained but to wait, and to hope.
So the void became the shape...
...and the shape became the land...
...and the land became rich...
...and all of that is me...

Do I actually have to create sectors in Stellaris? With a huge part of my empire not under my control might as well just go and subjugate a few vassals than colonizing planet myself. 11 star systems for core is far from enough.

How is Endless Legend last time I saw it was on a free weekend with a cool unit customizer thing? Its around 8 bucks.

Also, how do you do ground assaults on others in Endless Space 2? Do the upgrades for the troops change anything when attacking and not defending? I have a bunch of unsuspecting industrial humes who dont expect my soon to be ground assault being built on one of my least industrial ice planets.

You shouldn't even need to hit the system limit early to mid game unless you are literally colonizing every shitty planet around. Pick what you colonize carefully and especially keep an eye out for systems with multiple planets that you can fill up after terraforming. If you really need a valuable group of systems don't be afraid to make use of outposts, you shit out influence nowadays.

Can someone explain how weapon ranges work in endless space 2?

Say I have the Basic Phased Beam which has a short range. This means that it will only fire if the ship is performing a tactic where it's in a short range position, correct? Also, does it matter where the enemy is in reference to it? Will an enemy in an opposing long range position be out of range or no?

>>
I'm considering getting Stellaris in the Steam sale. Can I make the Imperium of man?
>>
>>181178568
So its kinda complicated - weapons work at their stated range AND all closer ranges. If a certain range hits another range ship depends on which stage of battle.
If you and your opponent are both Short range, the battle progresses Short>Short>Short, but other matchups happen at different engagements over the 3 stages of battle.
Ships in a different Lane are ALWAYS considered to be at Long range

The long and short of it is, spread out your ship types for good coverage and when you really need to kick some teeth in, build against your opponent's strategy.

So after this and finally finding that post half way up the thread, it seems like this:

You pick a tactic for each of the 3 prongs of your flotilla, which determines the range it starts at. The enemy does the same. Battle begins in each opposing lane at the longest range chosen between the two of you during the 1st phase. Each phase afterwards, the battle range in each lane changes by one towards the closet range chosen between the two of you. Right?

Advice on game selection /vg/?

I'm getting back into 4X, but consider myself new to the genre. I like space, & really enjoyed Birth of the Federation, which I've heard is similar to MOO2. I'd like to be able to have a good diplomatic system with detailed treaties and be able to coordinate fleet actions & movement with my allies. I dislike RTS battle systems & still feel like I'm new to the genre & really dislike a slow opening game.

I've played the new MOO and I haven't gotten really far into it yet, but so far am not liking it. The diplomacy seems okay, but I hate the movement system. Auto-explore is stupid with its pathing & I wish I could check the route before it actually moves. On tons of occasions have I messed up the routing of my ships because of it. Exploration in a post-warp game seems to be way too much in comparison to what I'll have available for resources to send colony ships out and the new colonies are just really slow to get going. Maybe it's just because I haven't played it much yet. I don't mind if I have to take time to build up my world if the exploration is limited enough for all races so we're not all going quite a few systems away.

I haven't been able to figure out the battle system at all, because so far every pirate attack has ended before I could really give orders on movement. (No need to as my frigates outmatch them by quite a bit, so I should just auto it.) From what I can tell, I dislike the movement speed sliders & orders to move & attack in general. If I have to deal with an RTS battle system, I guess something like Starcraft would work okay. I barely got through the Terran campaign in the original. Too many units in a battle got overwhelming & I'm sure I wasn't balancing resource management with attack plans well anyway. I know sometime you have to rush the enemy, but I have a huge habit in planning my strikes too carefully. I think RTS might be okay on a smaller scale if it's just a scrimmage.

>No as in it doesn't remove them from the supremacy victory checklist.
What about blowing every single planet in enemy home system? Does the required home systems for victory go down by one or is it retarded and supremacy victory simply becomes unachievable? You'd think they took that into consideration since the Vodyani's final chapter depending on your path requires either holding a handful of home systems or researching, building and using a planet cracker twice on random planets, meaning planet cracking enemy home systems should be their alternate preferred endgame victory style.

Kind of like EL's Cult that simply insta-razes every capital they capture, that are normally unrazeable for all other factions.

I really don't know and honestly I don't have the patience to check.
This thing takes five turns to charge for each planet, and its lategame so turns go by slowly.

I'd reccomend getting into galciv. 2 or 3 is a matter of taste, but generally they have the are probalby the most well rounded space 4x games out there.

Given that you don't like RTS combat there is a number of good games that get axed, but outside of galciv you should give a shot to a few more obscure titles like for example The last federation. It's diplomacy system is quite cool.

I am having trouble remembering other good titles to reccomend atm, so maybe someone else has other ideas.

Oh and autoexplore is shit everywhere. It's pretty much staple of the genre.
>>
>>181181035
Continued from previous post...

I just looked at gameplay for Stardrive 2, it looks pretty good, although apparently it has some bugs? I've been reading a lot of negative reviews on it. I did like how the ship design is. The RTS battle system looked like something I could live with, especially seeing how you can pause the game to issue new attack targets. I really like the invasion combat, with that, its like 3 games in 1.

I tend to make my games last, & enjoy random events so long as they don't bork the entire game. I don't play on epic sized galaxies though. Small-medium sized or else I would never finish a game! I often find myself with multiple games going at once that I take breaks from for several months at a time before going back to finish 1. I'd like to be able to keep a focus going on just one game for a bit.

Again, I would like to emphasize an interest in diplomacy, alliances, and coordination with allies. If a game is winnable without going completely murder-hobo, I want to try. That was one of my biggest problems with BotF, I found that going the genocidal route, was the most effective way, even easier the territorial victory condition. I'm also not a huge fan of other special victory conditions either. (Like tech victory or ascending.) I like territorial (with the option to keep playing), annihilation (although I don't want it to be the easiest way every time), and diplomatic alliance victories.

Keeping in mind the RTS points, my diplomatic preferences, and that I'm still fairly new at 4x and have little patience for slow production combined with fast exploration. (They should be balanced.) What do you recommend /tg/?

Diplomatic alliance victories are just murder hobos plural

Play MoO2 with the opposite of pre-ftl start.
>>
>>181181270
If you don't feel like recommending something, you don't have to read.

>>181183623
I actually bought GC3 as part of the mid-week summer sale on Steam. I forgot to mention that I'm also looking to take advantage of the Steam Summer Sale. I haven't played it yet. MOO looked more simple for a reintroduction to 4X, GC3 looked more complex at first glance. I'm sure I can get used to it in time.

I really liked the ship design of GC3 from the trailers. That and its workshop mods were a huge selling point for me. If a game has a Star Trek total conversion mod, that is also a big selling point. Although, if it's incomplete, like the one in Stardrive 2, that might drive me a little nuts with the text still talking about the vanilla races. Immersion factor & all.

My main gripe with the auto-explore in MOO was that it automatically moves when I tell a ship to do it. I want to be able to preview the route first. If I can determine it's a bad route ahead of time, then I can live with moving manually for a few turns until I can get into a better position. What I like about BotF's movement system is that nothing moves until you hit the turn button. If you select a path and then decide you don't like it, you can change the route before clicking turn. Being able to set waypoints would be a nice feature, as in BotF you can tell your ship where the destination will be, but not exactly what path to take. I have to select an alternate destination 1st & then when the positioning gets better, change it to my real destination.

1 more thing to mention, is I don't like preset "if you do this action, the AI won't do another action for [insert fixed amount of turns here] outside of treaties of course, even then, treaties should be able to be broken with appropriate repercussions. I remember something like that in (I think) Stellaris, where if you annex a vassal state that the AI can't declare war on it for 10 turns. (I might be a little mixed up, but you should get the idea.)
>>

>doesn't exist
Oh well, the best I can do is save-scum & make adjustments for my ships to act as escorts to their ships, I guess. That & multiplayer. (Though I need a game in which there is some roleplaying involved where I can ally with another player & act as a protectorate so I don't get my face beat in. I have a long way to go with the strategy before I'm competent online. If you want to be competitive at all, you need to be able to wipe the floor with the hardest AI, I can't.

>diplomatic alliance victories are just murder-hobo plural.
I suppose, it's a bit better if if's less major empires are conquered & if my allies do some of the conquering. I can play the roll of a pacifist and my people don't get mad, but at the same time support the alliance on a defensive front. I'm fine with war. I don't hesitate to defeat an enemy if they start shit with me. At the same time, I don't want to win the first war by total conquest. I like it when I can sign a peace and eventually become allies if possible. (I know this always can't happen, the game would be boring if it did.) Alliance victories can also not be murder-hobo if you go a mass colonization route with signing minor races to your empire. The reason I dislike the other victory conditions is because it gives me less time to dick around in the galaxy as it sometimes feels like the AI can win out of nowhere with that.

I'll give MoO2 a shot, I got it as a bundle deal with the other 2, (although apparently MoO3 sucks, but it was cheaper to get it with MoO1 then getting MoO1 and MoO2 by itself.) I did like advanced tech games in BotF a lot more than tech 1 games, although it took playing a tech 1 game to properly figure out colony optimization. But yeah, I want to explore, make friends, and kill that one race who wants to genocide/enslave the galaxy, but give the enemy a chance to back off and sometimes have them actually do so for good.
>>
>>181187070
Speaking of roleplaying... what's /vg/'s stance on doing entire multi-player games not for the sake of out strategizing your opponents for domination, but instead roleplaying your race for the entire game where everyone else does the same? I know some people like to have a storyline of their empire, but is this a thing that can happen sometimes for a multiplayer game?

Sounds like maybe this could be a thing? I thought Stellaris looked neat, although it looks like the typical galaxy size might be too big to keep my interest.

I'll take a look into ES2.

That gameplay for pre-Federation sounds pretty fun. Perhaps get a 5th player in as the Romulans to make trouble. When you say you're going in "almost as blind as the rest", do you mean that you've never played Stellaris before so you don't know much about how the tactical end of the game is?

>>181189181
I'm only adjusting my movements for my allies fleets, if I see a better tactical move the second time around, I don't change my move. I only change my move to stay with my allies fleet. If something went wrong the first time, and it has nothing to do with my allies ship movement, I don't change the move on the reload. Sometimes changing the move to stay with my ally also results in something bad happening, such as if they go in without an escort and get destroyed, but the escort force isn't enough so it also gets destroyed. I'll go in anyway as that was supposed to be the original plan, and if there was a way to know where my ally was going to move (them providing me tactical data on their fleet movements) I wouldn't need to save-scum. All that is, is simulating them providing me with their fleet movements.
>>
So in endless space do you only stick heroes in systems and fleets for bonuses? The seeker hero class makes it sound like they can go on solo missions and explore the galaxy.

well any happiness modifiers for hivemind are pointless because they aren't affected by happiness. Generally faster growth and habitability are considered good. If you select a habitability trait you could potentially colonise any planet immediately from the start as you only need 40% habitability to colonise and as happiness is irrelevant the low habitability doesn't matter. However you can get the habitability up thru research eventually, making the trait worthless so it's up to you.

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/hive-mind-exploit.1016114/
it would seem the growth malice for low habitability planets applies to hiveminds as well.

>The difference between your pops and a very happy pop of a standard empire, is that you produce as if your people are at 40+ happiness indefinitely. While a happy pop still produces better then them. So hive minds excel at being average and are desu a very good empire type for someone new to the game. But standard empires can get more resources out of an individual pop. However wIth the bonus habitability from the up and coming patch + extremely adaptive, most planets will be green for you. Which means your pops will grow faster in general. (there is a growth malice on planets with low habitability aswell).

it's akin to genocide but it's not automatic, only when you cede or cleanse a planet. And the closer an empire is the more penalty you will receive from them.

Is there any sure way to do that, or do I have to hope that I'll roll a materialist faction eventually?
>>
>>181240082
Start with ethics you can make more popular than spiritualism that aren't pacifist or militarist, then use a long war to embrace militarism while spiritualists are the least popular government ethic.
>>
>>181240082
>Is there any sure way to do that, or do I have to hope that I'll roll a materialist faction eventually?
I played Spiritualists once with Psionic Ascension and always had Materialist faction existing and being pissed since I picked Natural Sociologists and Intelligent as starting traits so I could get the through the required research. I think both or at least the Natural XYZ traits create plenty of Materialist attraction even if you're otherwise Fanatic Spiritualist. I even had Exalted Priesthood for more Spiritualist attraction.

However I'm not sure how easy it is to get the faction big enough so you can actually embrace it as your new ethos, since Psionic Theory tech and the ascension perks create quite hefty maluses to Materialist attraction, even if they're not enough to actually destroy the faction completely.

This was around when Utopia launched so I'm not sure how much has changed since I haven't played for a good while.

You're supposed to please the factions with the most support to actually get any influence.

How do you play defensively in endless space? There aren't any defensive structures that I can tell. I see that there are improvements that improve ground army capacity, but then you just get blockaded and seiged. In any strategy game, If you build military units, you HAVE to use them. If the only way to defend yourself is to building ships, you'll end up having to counter attack to make up for the investment.

>Is Hearts of Iron IV any good?
It's like Stellaris. it's fun to play with and work out strategy and how to win and see the events and different "storylines" (focus trees), until you hit a level of familiarity where you can steamroll the AI at maximum difficulty using tiny countries and it stops being fun.

I played 380 or so hours, after just first getting used to the game, I began playing with the Soviets, and had some really fun games, including defeats by German. Then I got better.

And managed to hold them at the gates of Moscow by throwing untrained badly equipped infantry for years before throwing them back once the US joined. Like RL.

Then I got good enough to stop them along a line from Minsk to Kiev to Riga to Crimea and watch them deplete their resources on a huge fortified line supported by armoured divisions, fully equipped infantry armies and air support.

Then I got good enough to stop them on the Polish & Romanian borders. I play Italy, and have to invade India & England personally because the Germans can't do it on their own even if you've built up two multi-carrier battlegroups and cleansed the Atlantic Ocean & North Sea of English & French fleets.

You start to get an inkling the AI isn't great, when for example, you play as Germany and watch the Italians get naval invaded in 1939, or see them unable to so much as invade France properly, let alone North Africa.

Then I was able to takeover the pacific as Japan. Then I was able to take over America as Brazil. Then hold the Germans as Poland.

Then you realise you could do a world conquest with Ethiopia or Greece or Portugal or Ireland, and realise there's no point playing because the mechanics of the game and poor AI mean challenge is non-existent, and multiplayer is plagued by rules lawyers who write tomes of house rules to balance the game while simultaneously making it unfun because you'll be made to play Romania and do nothing but produce planes for the German and Italian players.

Get rid of beam weapons and balance the rest so they are optimal at only one range, less effective at the rest. Long range tactics make beams useless. AI uses them too much making them stupidly easy to beat. For example putting only beams on an Ark meaning you can kill it with a long range tactic taking no damage.

>>
>>181253618
To talk to minor factions do I need Language Square, or is that only for Empires?
>>
Do you actually need to be at peace with someone to culturally overtake their shit or do you just need to have the tech? Is it any different for the Unfallen?
>>
>>181253784
language square doesn't have any effect on major faction diplomacy, it's literally only for bribing/parleying with minor villages
>>181253902
you can culturally assimilate anyone you're at cold war, peace, or alliance status with; the different diplomatic states affect the rate of assimilation (+2/4/8%)
the only special thing about trees is that they can never have their systems stolen; to take them, you need to trade for them or invade them
>>
>>181253547
Either invade them with your fleet or perform a quest for them like minor faction villages. However you have to take each fortress separately, unlike villages where doing quest for one pacifies all in the region.

If you're talking about the specific fortress modules, those unlock automatically along with tech eras. The resources you get from them, even strategics and luxuries don't require the usual prerequisite techs so they're ridiculously good.

>>181253784
Language Square is specifically for minor factions. There's other major faction related tech that unlocks peace and alliance (only the player requesting it requires it) later on, but basic interactions with them are there from the get go.

>>181253902
As long as you're not in a proper hot war or truce and the planet wasn't taken recently you can overtake planets with influence as long as they're inside your sphere. This means conversion works in cold war. Unfallen work roughly the same way on paper, except that everything connected to vines is considered part of their influence "sphere". Unfallen however do require to be at peace so they can send vineships to other factions' systems however.
>>
>>181254241
>planets
Derp, meant systems.
>>
Also cultural assimilation % just makes it cheaper on your influence. As long as your influence sphere or Unfallen vines encompass their systems, you have the required tech and you're not at full war you can spend a big chunk of influence to instantly buyout rival systems. The % value just makes the influence buyout cheaper every turn until it's basically free, so if you have an enemy encompass your system and they've been stacking up influence they can simply buyout it in one turn.

Only exception is the last tier Religious law that both increases the % value speed and makes it apply automatically for free when it hits 100%. Otherwise the overtaking player always needs to make a conscious action. There can for example be times where a friendly AI culturally encompasses your systems and you get the conversion % shown on your them, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're going to convert them in the end if they intend to keep friendly relations.

My biggest complaint is that it takes forever to eradicate a faction in you aim to cleanse all its planets. Regular genocide takes forever too, while those useless pops sit there occupying tiles and causing unrest. How hard can it be to burn a few million xenos? I mean they have lazors and shit.

You can push the religious party by supporting the parties adjacent to it and furthest away from its competitor, then using an election action to push it ahead of the close parties so that their votes get redistributed to the Religious party. Yes, it involves election actions in the end, but you can also use the quests by pushing the adjacent parties as described.

To see which party is close to what look at the wheel that displays the icons of the different parties. Easiest way I remember to look at the wheel is opening the page of a population. The closer the icons are on the wheel, the closer they are ideologically. This is how the game determines vote redistribution.

After learning the hard way through multiple restarts I've learned to just annex the planets by ceding and then patiently displacing the xenos left on them.

If you just cleanse them you will eventually end up in a containment war against literally the whole galaxy. Displacement is slow and wastes system limit but its not so bad if you terraform the not shit planets and let the shit ones die out.
>>
>>181260481
Some games on steam practice price/language/region segregation to cater to markets that are too poor or too rich for default price. ROW is a term from /gsg/ vocabulary that means rest of the world. I.E. things that are not europe. I'm sure it's used in other contexts but that's where I heard it first and it amuses me to no end that it's being used in serious context to show that a copy (key) is not region locked.

Yeah, manually purging has the same penalties as cleansing which I found out the hard way in one particularly promising game that got ruined.

So far in my latest game displacement doesn't seem to have any opinion penalties that I can see at all, and it takes only a little more time to get rid of them all than terraforming the planets. What's with people assuming that individuals reflect a faction. The Vodyani, that can't help themselves but be dogmatic authoritarian space vampires, religious or not, have the Heretic. Nah, anon, if Auriga is also a Lost, then they're pretty bro-tier. Auriga cares about all her children, even though most of them are, frankly, rape babies due to the Concrete Endless using the place as a weapons lab.

And the Heart just sits around uplifting the Unfallen and then calming them when they get spooked by finding out that there is other life out there and it is violent, and sets them off to restore peace to the galaxy. They themselves decide whether to do that pacifistically or by the sword.

The Lost are looking pretty good compared to the race that killed them to get Dust.

The Vodyani can become quite "worldly" if you complete the quest on the heretic side with the leader questioning the dogma of the church and even the use of essence. They seem like a race that is always really extreme in whatever it is that they do that is incapable of moderation more than anything else. The Heretic went off the deep end as well deciding to purge the entire fucking universe. There is no reason to believe that. It's left up to the player how to handle the Heretic in the heretic path. The Hierarch clearly states that whatever the truth, Vodyani well being comes first. Whatever that means is up to you to decide, last mention of the Heretic has her questioning whether just replace him and listen to his plea or kill the insane bastard, no matter how right he is.

Regardless of what she decides to do with the Heretic, she still questions the way the Vodyani live. EL Mezari are a bit of bonus content. There are no mezari on auriga, lorewise, only Vaulters, who descended from mezari that crashed a prison transport there some few millenia ago.

ES2 retconned / revealed that the Endless didn't actually create Dust, but they genocided an even more ancient "god" race for it. The Dust is probably what Lost bodies were originally made of (unclear whether they're still very advanced nanomachine clouds or now actual space magic) so the Endless kind of mined them till extinction or something.

The Rejuvenator ending in movie files outright says:

>>
>>181269576
>I don;t know how they usually handle their games and their lore so its hard for me to judge.
They usually keep connection between games on the thin side. ES for example has very little continuity with ES2 or EL. There is an over arching tale that sort of connects them, it's about the Crystal and now the Lost,
but I'd wait for expansions before trying to guess what will happen in the end.
Everyone was sure Vaulters will make it off Auriga, and yet they are nowhere to be seen as of yet.
>>
Is there a series of ES2 playthrough videos you watched/enjoyed? I need something to listen to while playing and listening to someone else's game usually teaches me some stuff i didn't know along.

Especially with the number of possible questlines for the different races I will never be able to cover them all so it would be interesting from that perspective as well.
>>
>>181270879
i think es2 is what they wanted es to be ie. es isn't even a part of the official canon.
goes dungeon of the endless > endless legend > endless space 2
>>
>>181271128
Harmony is mentioned in ES2 but is not present, outside of one subfaction. There is a callback to sowers and the warbirds are a minor faction. To say that ES never happened with all in mind seems deluded.

Grey owl was an ES1 ship that crashed on auriga, no?

As I said the connections are very vague even between games you say to be official cannon, tho I'm not sure where you are getting that definition.

As I said, devs themselves describe connection between their games as "loose", so while you can make determinations on what is and isn't cannon, in the end there simply is very little that these games share story wise other than setting itself.

It's not like I'm expert on the subject and I only got rather late into EL as my first Ampli game, but like >>181262479 said I sure hope they do return for the same reasons. The Rejuvenator side ending gets two cutscenes (one for winning the quest and another for winning the game proper after finishing the quest on their side) while the Defender side gets only one (for winning the quest) so at least it seems they put more effort into Rejuvenators.

Whatever the case, the devs said on their forums they're wanting to expand the Academy endgame in some way. I complained about it before, but the rewards seem so damn tiny like they were placeholders whereas EL endgame quest was one of the victory conditions, so I'm thinking more fleshed out Academy quest was unannounced story content that got cut up due to rushed release like strike craft did. Hard to say whether they're going to create some bigger "after the end" endgame stuff that only gets triggered when the Lost return or add new mechanics / more incentive to participate for both sides of the quest.

>>181270879
We are getting Opbot however, so at least he survived the explosion, though it seems he got separated from Vaulters if the backstory voting choices are anything to go by. However Vaulters just poofing seems kind of an anti-climatic end for them so I'm assuming they'll return in some way. Either as a minor faction, some Vaulter related metaplot narrative content or even a full playable faction.
>>
>>181271562
Yes, but the devs have themselves confirmed that ES is not included in the official canon timeline.

It is DotE -> Endless Legend -> Endless Space 2 directly from their own mouths. Endless Space 1 is not mentioned at all.

Was Corvette spam ever really a thing? Seems to be a meme considering that you need 20x the minerals to make enough naked coilgun corvettes to beat shield+2capacitor cruisers.
>>
>>181271901
My bad, I have no idea why I thought it was a Mezari ship but you're totally correct.
>>
>>181067675
is Stellaris' ship development / warfare still horribly imbalanced where the optimal solution is just spamming stock laser corvettes all the way through to the end?
>>
Tell me lore reason why United Empire starts with Hissho?
>>
>>181271946
problem is the cruisers have a huge disadvantage against the evasion of the corvettes. And again, the math works out better not for coilgun corvettes but bone stock day one laser corvettes, you can spam the hell out of them, and they actually get cheaper to maintain and produce.
>>
>>181268826
Do you have samekind picture for UE quests?
>>
>>181272780
First people they made patriots.
>>
>>181272914
forgot to add: you can also produce the corvettes incredibly quickly out of any freshly made spaceport with no upgrades. So even if you're up against some huge fleet of cruisers, destroyers, etc and you tie and your fleet is wiped out, you can rebuild your fleet in like a tenth of the time it takes your enemy to rebuild theirs.

I haven't played since this issue was big. I don't know if they've fixed it yet.
>>
>>181272987
Does making them patriots imply xenocide?
>>
>>181262986
The tempest trailer sorta implies that they were made by auriga, or that auroga was somehow responsible for them.
>>
>>181273269
>>181272914
20k minerals of naked laser-1/railgun-1 covettes will lose 100% of the time to 5k minerals of tier 5 cruisers. They have ZERO chance of winning. How is it "cheaper" to spend several times more minerals to lose all the time? The cruisers also are likely to defeat the corvettes with no losses.

I'm most peeved about how the UE last chapter's first part is always roughly the same no matter which path you pick. Either you ignore the final clue or Zelevas visits it personally to find that random emperor elect that you didn't pick is the traitor. I'm not sure but maybe it can be only Lena or Hadri? Never had the cutie science chick come up. It's nice for the first time, but it feels kind of cheap on subsequent playthroughs when you realize all the emperor elect candidates are just treated as Emperor Elect ____ in all parts of the quest rather than actually adding new lines or stuff, unlike something such as the Virus hero in Riftborn quest telling Viceroy about the Grey Owl. I was hoping the Mezari path would've had something different hidden stuff since in UE and Sheredyn paths the clue is in an abandoned rebel shipyard whereas Mezari version gets unique art and an abandoned bunker for some reason.

First time ever I played UE I dodged the Mezari bunker because it seemed too convenient clue suddenly popping up close to emperor elect looking forward to their coronation and I thought it was going trap Zelevas inside and make him a puppet. Sort of like an alternate bad ending to his quest. Or some other big find.

Speaking of lackluster final chapters, Horatio faction quest's final chapter is always 100% the same story wise no matter which path you pick. I was hoping the other paths had some twists like the narrator actually playing to Prime's even grander plan who is using him as a puppet, Prime outright supplanting the narrator or some incomprehensible crap about the narrator actually having been Prime all along. Alas.

Endless Legend Collection seems best value.

Grand master collection is Endless series whole. If you are interested mostly in EL "Endless Legend Collection" is what you want. It contains a number of dlc's that truly make that game shine.

forgotten are really interesting, but you need to start near another faction to really have a lot of fun

Not him, but what annoyed me with Endless Legend was how weapons were just numbers in the end.
Like, you pick between claws/swords/pikes, and rarely between swords/bows, but the units are still locked in a role.
>>
>>181279983
Weapon choice definitely has an affect on how you play tho. I'm fighting wild walkers+vaulters currently and all my units have ranger slayer cause of battle axes. made a huge difference. Itemizing your troops properly against opposing army types is arguably more important in EL than ES2

Yeah, it really is one of a kind gameplay. And if you don't know what you're doing you're only going to get slaughtered. Did you ever complete a full run?

>>181279983
Weapons do change the special ability of the unit, which sometimes is a major point. But it's true they won't turn a melee fighter into a ranged one or a caster into a swordsman.
>>
>>181275374

>left handed
>>
>>181279857
Ability to declare both where to go and who to attack. As well as ability to tell a unit to go to an already occupied square are among the most requested features in criticism I heard of EL combat. Which pains me a great deal to hear given that both are in the game.
>>181279983
That's not at all true. Weapons aren't "just numbers" they each have a defining trait associated. For example Vaulter marines when using crossbows are frontliners with ability to harass at range, but when they switch to long bows they are simply ranged damage unit.

Or if you take something like Sisters Justicar. With sword and board it's a go to anti infantry front liner, but switch it to spear and it becomes anti-cav unit that should be kept away from skirmish with things that aren't cav.

Weapon choices play a great role in maximising unit efficiency.
>>
>>181279969
Not that I remember. I think all the last chapters in all paths mention Zelevas releasing the captured girl because she wasn't the biggest fish, followed by "past is unchangeable, now we look to the future, go do this UE / Mezari / Sheredyn thing for the last unlock".
>>
>>181280364

Well, the biggest tip is that heroes aren't really for killing monsters. Even the damage dealers need to be backed up by modules.

What's most important is having good FIDS production and kill-rooms at good spots while you unlock more doors.

the only worthwhile one for non-vaulters until midgame is the last titanium/hyperium one, since you tech up so fast up until then and the resource-using ones are worse than the free ones you get from the subsequent era
>>
>>181280606
>since there doesn't seem to be a lot of differences between materials of the same tier
The difference there is less notieceble but it can still play a role.

For example Titanium troops will outlast Hyperium troops. But Hyperium troops will get first strike, meaning you want archers geared out in hyperium so that they can do hit and run, with your melee using titanium. Yeah this part is mostly numbers but when playing against players or endless AI those numbers can make a difference between a slog war of attrition and a victory.
>>181280793
I can understand that, tho I enjoy it well enough myself I can see how doing it often can be boring and repetitive. Autoresolve is decent tho, so I don't think it's that big a deal if you don't want to fight manually.

Yes. Either by using Ctrl+Click or by dragging mouse first to square than to unit. In either case two arrows will appear a white movement one and a red attack one.
